Seats For Tall Driver
I really like the original bench, but want a few features so I am starting to plan my interior build and keep my eyes open for part outs and the yards for seats.
Things I hope this new seat has: - arm rest - cup holder - sit no higher then bottom of window I know it doesn't necessarily matter, but will be relocating the gas tank, in case you want to know. If any of you have a seat that would fit a taller driver or you are a tall driver, please chime in. Mahalo!

Re: Seats For Tall Driver
I have researched this alot!
do a seat thread search first One serious thing to look into pending how deep you are willing to tear into the truck is some people say they can somehow collapse or shorten the steering column or the push it forward or something As for getting some options good luck! MAybe some custom buckets would be best but most dont want to lose the center seat. The newer ones are thicker so that pushes you closer. 88-94 seats seem to provide the most room yet no options like cupholders or console. Gas tank removal really wont help your situation One thing I considered doing if I got my hands on a seat for nothing is taking a later model seat stripping it down then seeing if somehow the upright frame of the seat back sould somehow be thinned up some to get you back it would be custom for sure Then there are the seats from http://www.discountvantruck.com/truc...truckseats.htm Look nice but I ve never sat in one to know how it fits |

Re: Seats For Tall Driver
Yeah, I have been thread reading all night haha. I honestly didnt feel all that cramped with the original bench seat, so the steering column issue won't come up.
I really do want to keep a bench, nothing better then cruising with the wife by your side, but need an arm rest for when she's not with me. Ive read the same thing too, the thickness of the back foam is us tall guys real issue. Lastly, took a 2 second look at that link and thats more then Im willing to spend. Im really liking this here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...9&postcount=48 No cup holder, but looks how Id want it to. I plan on reupholstering anything I buy anyways.

Re: Seats For Tall Driver
Been looking at those too, although the backs seem to be pretty dang thick. Speaking from no experience that is

Re: Seats For Tall Driver
yes 90-94 bench with armrest is a good one if you can find one and if you can find one in good shape as they are very difficult if even possible to reupholster

Re: Seats For Tall Driver
doesn't it depend on HOW you are tall? not just how tall you ARE?
i'm 6'5", long torso and short legs. So my problem isn't legroom it's usually headroom just sayin' that said i am thinking of replacing the bench in my 72 with low back buckets from a 88-94 keep us posted on what you do |
