Radiator Purchas
I got a 71 with a 402 and the radiator needs replacing i been qouted for a brass and copper and then an alumnium and plastic this is my everyday driver not a race car do i need the brass alimnium.

Chances are your going to get a plastic aluminum cheaper. That's what all the radiator suppliers are changing to. I sell auto parts and both suppliers we sell both have the plastic/aluminum.
If you have someone that is quoting you a copper/brass.. be sure that is what you are getting. I myself prefer a copper/brass. But they are getting harder to come by. There is nothing "wrong" with the Plastic/Aluminum other than its not what these trucks came with and sometimes leak around the plastic to aluminum rubber seal.

I talked to a couple of people a couple said they prefer to use the copper but though maybe they were just tryingot sell me the expensive one. |

Stock replacement works for me (with my 402). I think all big blocks and all AC trucks got the HD cooling (four core) but I can't be sure. I know mine is, but it's got both AC and a bigblock.
If I had to do it again I would take my original tanks in and get it recore'd, assuming the price is reasonable. You can beat the quality of the old ones, they were overbuilt. Ideally you could get one through Rockauto or similar, but worst case LMC and so on have them.

I ordered a 100 percent aluminum radiator from Auto City Classic in Minneapolis. Problem is they showed inventory when I placed my order, but I must have been at the back of the line because now they are out of stock.

Look on RockAuto.com. they should have a Spectra Premium for under $150. It's a plastic tank, aluminum core type. You'll have a choice of standard or HD cooling, usually. They are an OE manufacturer, so it's a quality part that will last 10 years, or more.

I would think, it comes down to the almighty $.
My '70 GMC is needing a new rad. It is not a DD. Since Im not smarter than GM engineers, I will use materials that came from the factory. I plan to use a rad shop next town over. He's done excellent work for me in the past, and to support a "mom-n-pop" type establishment. Will it cost more? Probably, but if I have problems, he a 30 minute drive to fix. Look at the sure fits series by griffin radiators they are all aluminum.

Spectre-Premium will be a CU369, it will be Plastic/Aluminum and be a 2 row.
