what does it take to make a 383 stroker?
I have been wanting to start a bulid on a 383 stroker. I have never done one before and i was wondering what all it took. Like bore and crank and pistons and rods and such.

As far as my knowledge goes, a 383 is a 350 block bored 30 over with a 3.75 crank out of a 400. I think either the block or the crank needs to be ground down in a few spots due to clearance issues. I think the crank journals need to be taken down too., not positive tho.
There are kits now too.......I don't know what block work has to be done when you buy those. Somebody should be able to help more than I have.

yes the crank has to be turned down to fit the 350 main bearing size. you can get a crank from any aftermarket supplier that is a direct drop in.

youll have to clearance a few of the rods...pending what rods you use...400 rod is 5.65" or 350 rod is 5.7"...the longer rod is generally prefered..400 rods arent known for their strength also the bigger cam you run the more u gotta take off the few rods...some clearancing has to be done at the bottom of each cylinder for the rods but its nothing major...hope this helps
