Heater control cables

I ordered new cables and the heater controls for my 69 GMC. Cables are three lengths. The short one obviously goes to the defroster. Should the long one go around to the blower box under the hood or to the fan speed/air controller that is routed between the fire wall and the heater box? Looks like it could use extra length due to having to snake around. I know it is important to make big bends to let the cables work smoothly. What do ya think?
