What a difference wheels and tires make.!!!!!!!
Here's my 72, bone stock on 30x9.5's on 15x6 wheels.
And now 33x12.50's on 15x8 CUCV Wheels. Everything clears and drives awesome. Maybe a 2 or 4" lift in the near future ..

Re: What a difference wheels and tires make.!!!!!!!
Sweet lookin' truck! I've always liked my tires into the wells more than most. Never lifted as much as what I see out there. But I would go 2" on this truck. It won't appear as lifted, yet will look healthier, stronger, and more capable. This coming from a guy who has owned a '72 K2500 since '01, haven't lifted it, and have run everything from 33/12.50s on 9.75-16.5 steelies, same tires on 8.25 Turbo-Vecs, and now 7" Ford steelies with 255/85-16s. Only rubbing was with the 9.75 wheels, but it could use getting up a couple inches so it doesn't look so squatty and look more capable. Like I said, it won't look lifted, just proportionate to the tire size. People will still ask if it's lifted, or just assume it's not. I call it beefy-stock. Looks stock, but more heavy duty. I hate trucks lifted more than necessary.

Re: What a difference wheels and tires make.!!!!!!!
I'd like to toss some 33s on my C20. I'm much more inclined to trim to fit rather than lifting.

Re: What a difference wheels and tires make.!!!!!!!
Like you said... 2" or 4". It just looks like it wants to bottom out the way it sits now.

I vote for 2 inch if you actually use the truck for loads and off road. If its a street queen then leave it as is.

Re: What a difference wheels and tires make.!!!!!!!
I agree with the few above on 2" of lift. Yours sits like mine does. Mine is on 32's and I think the 2" would just add the right touch.

Re: What a difference wheels and tires make.!!!!!!!
Wish I could have left mine stock height with 33's, but the LS swap made a 2" lift necessary. Still nice, but my vote is to leave it stock height!

Re: What a difference wheels and tires make.!!!!!!!
I think it will look more original with a 2" lift. Beefy stock, like it has a HD option...such as newer trucks having the snow plow suspension option that makes trucks sit like a proper 4wd. Now it looks original with the biggest tires that would fit. It looks good, but not at all original to me.

Re: What a difference wheels and tires make.!!!!!!!
Looks great, a add-a-leaf all the way around or a 2in. lift would both look great!

Looks good as is, but a small 2" lift would look good too! Sweet rig!

Do you have a build or would you be willing to answer some questions. I'd really like to do a 5.3 4l60 swap

Re: What a difference wheels and tires make.!!!!!!!
Just sharing some info....
I got a price from Alcan spring for my 68 3/4 ton long bed 4X4, the front springs are $520.00 and the rear springs are $610.00. I'm only interested in an all spring 2 inch lift. |
