Which Truck Cover ...
I need to buy a truck cover for my truck. I have read a few threads on this subject but all were older threads. So I thought a new refreshed thread would be a good thing. My truck is stored inside but it might be good to get an all weather cover. What say yee?

Re: Which Truck Cover ...
Thanks for posting. I'd be interested in some input also. I am having my truck painted in the next couple of weeks and will be looking for a good cover soon too.

Re: Which Truck Cover ...
I've been searching the forums and my subscriptions to locate the cover I purchased based on a recommendation found here a couple of years ago. Good quality breathable cover that has lasted over two years without any fitment issues.
I will keep looking to try and offer a suggestion.

Re: Which Truck Cover ...
I always think of a cover as a good way to scratch the paint.
If you must use a cover, make sure you get your truck good and clean and dry before you put it on EVERY time.

Re: Which Truck Cover ...
I have two of the same cover from advanced auto. Cover king brand possibly, actually for Silverado, but fit both my 68 and 72 , but both are shorties, have a different type on my 71 bb shorty, it is older cloth type. Check advance and see, I think I paid $60 each.

Re: Which Truck Cover ...
I bought one of these http://www.classicindustries.com/pro.../cv9005gl.html last year for my 69 LWB 3/4 ton when Classic Industries had a 25% off sale. It's a tight fit and requires that I fold my mirrors which may be part of the reason for the tight fit. I think we have the same mirrors but mine are from a 71 that may have slightly shorter horizontal "braces". The Technalon (an Evolution fabric) is thick so it cushions the paint from minor bumps and scratches. Mine is the tan/gold color. It's also available in gray and for SWB trucks. Classic Industries has extended its 20% off to the 28th with code SNW14.
EDIT: Their print catalog says it's a Covercraft cover. Last edited by FirstOwner69; 12-24-2014 at 12:47 AM. |

Re: Which Truck Cover ...
You don't want an all weather cover inside, I know that. You are just concerned about dust, right? What you want is a light breathable one. Basically, something made to fit that is more convenient than laying a bunch of old bed sheets on. You don't want to cause condensation from what little moisture that may rise from out of your slab. Even if it's bone dry under there, condensation can form due to the insulating factor of the outside cover.

Re: Which Truck Cover ...
My truck is outside 9 months a year, so I bought an expensive cover and it rubbed the clear coat off of every corner.

Re: Which Truck Cover ...
I keep mine indoors in an attached but not heated garage. I don't cover it. I make sure it's got a good coat of wax on it for the winter and leave it at that.

Re: Which Truck Cover ...
I agree the advance cover is cheap as per mid it'd, but my vehicles are kept inside and serve more to keep dust and my kids away than the withstand gale force winds and a lack of a garage. If going to be in a carport or similar breathability is a must as Tim stated as well as the ability to securely attach the cover. As loose fitting cover will ruin a paint job quickly.
