how to adjust range/park/travel of 1957 windshield wiper

hi.

I have a 1957 3600.

how does one adjust the range/park/travel of the windshield wipers?

is it pop off the arm and put it back on in a different angle (as is the case with some vehicles)? if yes, I do not see how that could be done.

On my 55 2nd with the stock electric wipers, I had the arms off while painting the truck. I put the arms back on so they sat just above the window rubber at the bottom. With just a little adjustment they work great and set just above the rubber when they come to a stop.

Turn the wipers on with the arms removed, then turn them off so that they go to the parked position. Then put the arms back on as capnduane says, with wipers just above the window rubber. You might have to adjust the position to get them to park where you want them.

Look at it, the motor will either have a wire or vacuum line to it. But I think the linkage configuration described above is the same. Wiper arm comes off by releasing a clip under the "cup" and pulling it off. If it has been on a long time can be a challenge. Take is slow and do NOT bend or twist the arm or "cup", they are pot metal and can crack pretty easily or you can loosen the splined part from the shaft. They make tools to take them off, but careful use of a small flat screw driver works, I alway tape the paint around the are in case something slips.

Just an example. You can get it at most auto parts store.

Just hook it over the edge of the wiper and pry back a little bit. Lift up.

Here are a couple of pictures that might help. Now this is off my 1955 1/2 ton but I don't see why it would be different on your truck. With the wiper on the truck its hard to see under it so maybe use a mirror to check and see what you have to deal with. They sometimes do get frozen together. If its different send a picture back.

Clarence thanks for posting the pics, its is below freezing and my wipers are buried in the "last things to go on the truck box".
