body part questions..

I have the 67 apart and am wondering if the radiator core support is strictly 67 or will one work from 67 to 72? Mines bent up more than I care to try to fix. How well do the re-pops work?

Same question on the tailgate.. just 67 or through 72 work?

Also I've seen the flush mount windshields and rear window kits out there... has anyone here used these.. if so hows the fit? Pics? I have only seen the rear kit for the big window though and I have the small one.

When pulling the cab off the frame, is it ok to lift from the roof with straps and a cherry picker? Not sure the picker will go high enough though so we may go from the cab mount holes and use eye bolts. Probably better to at least re-mount it with the cab mount holes though...

And lastly... with the vintage air kits, does the factory A/C controls operate these?

Thanks

(Note to admins... this is not a WTB post.. just asking general questions)

Re: body part questions..

68 68 chevy truck rad supports are the same
gmc`s are different due to the 4 headlight pattern
69 71 have different mounting holes and put the headlights in a different location

Re: body part questions..

Core supports on a Chevy '71-'72 have a different type of mount for headlights. For lifting cab,I suggest you look at forum member rockrin. He sells plans to build a cab/bed lift.Enter that in search bar and select this site. Tailgates are all the same except for different molding holes for different trim levels and years. The vintage air will have a conversion kit to use factory controls.I am not sure if it is an option or standard.

Re: body part questions..

4 people can lift the cab off.Its not as heavy if you take the doors off.

but i think the straps and hoist will work fine.i dont think you can hurt anything.

Re: body part questions..

Be careful taking the cab off with straps under the roof. It will dent the roof and bend the drip rails. Mine are bent all up from the po lifting it like this. Bad enough I've got to splice the drip rails back together with a patch on both front ends.

Re: body part questions..

Please don't use the strap under the roof method !! You can use the cab mount holes and the seat belt mounts. To put it back on and you don't have a two post lift, get three friends and lift it . Without the glass and the doors it is pretty light and it takes about 5 minutes.

Re: body part questions..

I didnt think it was a good idea to lift with the roof... Ill use the cab mount holes and the seat belt mounts. I have a bad back and cant be lifting that thing off without a lift or something.

Thanks
