Dark Tinted non sliding back glass

Anyone know who sells a dark tinted non sliding back glass for a 81 C10?

Cheaper to put tint on then buy new glass.

Re: Dark Tinted non sliding back glass

I think I saw that option available in the LMC catalog, but I would do a google search for back glass from the big glass dealers and you will likely get more results. I don't like stick on tinting - inside reflection at night, always some kind of small bubbles or imperfections even with good installer - I am very picky. I always get factory dark tint on new vehicles I buy and forgo any dealer add on tint for the side/driver/pass windows - way better than stick on tint, and actually cheaper than stick on for a new vehicle.

A good glass shop can cut you one. I had one made for my 68 Chevy.

I can buy a new tinted slider. I want to go back with a solid 1 piece glass.

I'm kind of torn on that.. I kind of like the way it looks but you would have to do extra work on the inside to make it look ok as you would have the pinch weld.

There is a video on YouTube and it shows them using a edging material on the flange. Don't think I would be happy with the way that would look on the inside. And with the build quality of my 81 I can guarantee the metal would not match the contour of the glass. I was hoping to hear from someone that had actually installed this to see if they can confirm.

Even in the video they do not show a closeup of the inside.

Re: Dark Tinted non sliding back glass

I would only want the LMC tinted window if it was dark privacy glass like the new vehicles. It might just be the factory light green tint of the 70s and 80s - not much use in the desert heat. I think Classic Part might have a dark tint.

Re: Dark Tinted non sliding back glass

My local tint guy offered to pull my back glass and tint the entire thing then reinstall for just the cost of tint if i got a new rubber seal (classic industries, no one else could get it). So I went back two weeks later when the seal came in and presto... tinted all the way to the edge of the glass itself means zero light between tint and the weatherstripping because its inside the stripping.

I was thinking of doing this. I have slider now and I need to replace it. So if I have to buy the glass anyway I was hoping I could find a tinted one.

Yeah I seen that. But i'm not sure how well it would fit / look in the opening. And I do not like the inside trim.
