5/7" drop, possible w/o air??

I see all about the 4/6 drop, but in my eyes it just aint enough, and air ride in my thoughts is too much money/time/effort to be altering my frame a whole bunch, for now atleast.

I was wondering how some would be able to put together a 5/7" drop. If so where could someone get the parts or if a kit is available.

if not then where is the best place to buy the 4/6" drop

Its possible. I dont know how well it would ride or what the travel would be like,

Front. 2 inch drop spindle, 3 inch drop spring

Back. 6 inch drop spring, 1 inch lowering block. You would definitely need an adjustable track bar, shock relocators, and a C-notch. I believe youd need a custom mount on the track bar at that angle as well.

well you see, my over all goal is to have the wheel wells look like their touching the tip of the rims(not tires). Mind you I will be going with a 20" rim.

would 4/6 drop achieve that goal?

I am also in Calgary, up in Beddington area.
my truck is a 1970 GMC, I was looking at bags, and a plain drop. How much did your 7 1/2 cost you? what' the front and rear dropped? or the same.

I don't wanna drag frame, but would like the body to look like it's sitting just on top of the Rims(18's, or 20's) and with doing that I still want to be able to put stuff in the bed of the truck, or even tow something light and not worry.

Gixxerboy is this close to the look you want? I've always thought this truck had the perfect stance. Is it possible to have this kind of stance as a ride height. Could it be acheived with a body drop combined with a conventional 4.5/6-7 drop? Or would tire clearance issues make this type of stance impossible as a ride height. Thanks............Stroker

W/O creating new front inner wheel wells (or eliminating them) that stance is for pictures only. If you add about 1.5" you could get away w/driving it.... but the tires would be buzzing (even on moderate bumps/dips) the fenderwells if you didn't remove them.

That stance is possible because I am running a 5.5/6 drop in my truck with 20" wheels with no fender or inner fender modifications on my truck and I don't rub anywhere anytime. So yes that is possible. 2.5" drop spindles, 3" drop springs and I have leaf rear so a flip kit did it along with a c-notch. You can only cut about 1/2" off the front bump stops though. And you must run a 30-35 series tire on the 20's. The most common tires are 40 series for 20's but I wouldn't think about them with this much drop unless you have bags because they are tall tires. Normally they run a 255/40 front (28" tall) and a 295/40 rear (30" tall). I am running 245/35's in front and 275/30's in the rear and they are both 26.5" tall.

I wouldn't go with more than a 4/6 drop myself. That's only because i'm not a fan of super low profile tires. Just my .02

You can get there from here, but there will be a compromise along the way. The lower you get, the less clearence you are going to have in a lot of places. Yes, cutting your bump stop will help, but then you are that much closer to the fender liner.

Like Scoti said, you can remove or mod your fender liner and that will help.

72chevyLWB has another perspective. He prefers low profile tires. They do look good, and probably don't rub, but they ride goes to crap pretty quick with a 30 series tire. The chance of bending a rim goes up pretty quick too.

If you want the best of both worlds just bag it, and be done...

That truck in the pics doesn't have 30 or 35 series tires on it like yours. Since the original post was on static drops, if you were to use a 5/7 drop w/a 20" wheel & a 245/40 series tire, I would be willing to bet that it will indeed rub.

On my 68, I have 2.5" spindles + 1 coil removed off of the stock 1968 coils up front & w/a 215/75/15 tire @ 27.5" (which is the same overall height as a 245/40/20) & I will buzz the tops of my fenderwells when driving. Now drop it a little more (like the pic) & I'm confident it won't rub any less.

If you don't mind running a smaller diameter tire w/a 30/35 series profile, it's possible.... but you wouldn't want to drive it everyday.

This truck is a 4.5 front spindle and springs and a flip in the rear with 2" shackles. Gives it about 5-7 after the springs settled in.
I ran 17's with a tire height of 27" front and 31" rear.
The fronts cleared fine unless turning and hit a bump they would buzz a little
