double check my logic - removing brake pedal assembly - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Almost done with my manual tranny swap in my 86 K5. I just want a sanity check before I wrestle with the brake pedal assembly.

I removed the gauge cluster, removed the nuts on the brake booster, removed the nuts holding up the steering column, broke the steering column loose under the hood, and disconnected the pigtails from the brake assembly. I also removed the duct work that went to the vent on the driver's side.

Once I start separating the items that were bolted together w/ the steering column I should be able to rotate the assembly down and then to the passenger side to remove? Anything else I should watch for? Thanks.

I just did this swap. there is one screw or some kind of fastener on the left side of the dash through the metal to the mount of the pedals.
Not sure if youre doing a hydraulic or manual clutch but getting that spring on for the pedal is a pain
also make sure that you test fit the brake linkage to your assembly on the brake pedal the power brake hole on the linkages is smaller than a manual one and it wont fit.. if your brake pedal assembly is from a 3 speed on the tree you will have to use manual brakes in all likelihood unless you can figure out how to modify the linkages or the pedal the peg t fits on wont come out easily. also the brake light clip wont interchange.. this is a major pain in the butt it would have been cheaper for me to change o an automatic trans than to restore the truck to thee original configuration

Hydraulic clutch, the donor pedals came from an 87 and I am putting them on an 86. Also, the cross member I got from you fit perfectly.

Im not certain about the hydraulic clutch stuff all the ones ive dealt with are the older ones

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
