73-80 Project Truck in Midwest?

Anybody got one real cheap? I'd like the body to be saveable, and preferably a V-8 w/auto but I could look at anything else. This would be my first truck so I want it to be a project so I can hopefully restore it and learn something in the process, and also it would probably be a whole lot cheaper than any other truck, lol. Needs to be near Illinois and pretty cheap. Let me know.

Thanks,
- Ben

Arkansas too far away for you? I have a friend that has a 77 or a 78 (what year came out with the hood release in the cab?) Shortwide for sale. It doesnt have a motor or tranny, needs rocker panel and cab corner put in (already cut out) one side is already done, doesnt have a/c, has power steering and brakes, no hood, rust on the drivers side bed side, behind the wheel well.. Seems like the bumpers and stuff was there for it. Last time he had it going was three years ago and it had a big block / automatic tranny setup then. He is asking 500.00 for it.

I know it probably seems stingy and far-fetched but $500 would probably take a little time for me. But c'mon, I'm 15, all you guys were there once and know what its like to be a teenager and have very little money on hand, and how hard it is to get a real job or make any money at all.

Anyway, do you think he might negotiate and does he have pics? And is there any chance he or you might be headin north anytime soon? Since my dad has to drive me wherever I find one(that is unless a delivery is available) he'd like something that isn't too far, but it all depends. Let me know.

Thanks,
- Ben

It has been off the road for two years now i think, I can get pictures of it next time I am up there. I am up that way atleast two times a week. and I will see if he will work on the price any. As far as heading that far up north, I dont know about. It depends on how much I could get to bring it to you or something else that might be worked out later on.

Frank

btw, I'm 20, and I still know what it is like to take a while to get $500

LOL, thanks. And any idea how much it would cost for you to bring it up here? I don't suppose I could get away with just paying gas huh? lol But that all depends on how the truck itself would cost me. Let me know.

Thanks,
- Ben

Thanks. It sounds like a pretty good project, just out of curiosity does anybody know about how much would a motor/tranny to go with this project truck would cost me? Wouldn't need to be that great but runners. Preferably 350/TH350 or 400. Thanks for the help.

contact old Rusty C10. Last nite in the chat room there was a member selling a truck for $150 He lived in Illinois. I don't remember exactly who he was. I was involved in another matter.

Thanks Tom, hopefully he'll reply soon with some info on it...just about anywhere in IL should be OK for us so. Do you know if Rusty saw some pics of it or anything? Again, thanks.

Also, if anybody might be interested in a trade I have a 1976 Honda CB 750 thats in pretty good shape that I would trade/partial trade for a decent project. It's pretty nice other than the fact that the starter button is broken so you have to kick-start it. Just ask for pics.
