Re: Gasoline

Yea, except in California, now the clowns under the dome are going to be passing on a backdoor tax on the 1/1/15 which will start at roughly 10 cents per gallon and stairstep to 75. It's due to cap and trade regulations and the funding of an over glorified passenger train that nobody wants.

Gas here in Oregon is as low as 2.35 a gallon for 87. In my town its 3.25 for 92...and during the summer if was at 4.45 so quite a drop for us.

Yep, many of my friends have already left. They simply couldn't afford to stay. They wanted to buy homes and have a good job, so when opportunities arose in other states they packed it up and left. This is not a political forum, but we all know what the problem is.

Re: Gasoline

I work in the oil and gas industry and these crazy price drops for no apparent reason have people worried about their jobs. It's always been feast or famine, though. I am fairly new to it, and am not an expert on global markets and macroeconomics, but prices seem to go up like crazy and down like crazy for no reason. It's all political and greed driven, IMHO.

its always gone up for greed, but now there is an excessive production by OPEC and less demand by the US has driven down prices, cuz OPEC senses its loses and wants us to keeping buying. so they lower the prices to keep us hooked on their oil. if we cut out foreign oil imports and use domestic oil OPEC would send prices to .50 just to keep making money, but companies that buy offshore oil will cut jobs cuz the profits will dip and effect stock prices i.e shareholders...

I worry about the water more than the gas these days. Im happy its not $5 a gallon like a few years ago but it will be again before you know it.

Re: Gasoline

Here in the True North Strong and Friendly we pay much higher taxes on well.... everything!!!! That is the cost of universal health care as well as very well maintained highways and bridges....

In July the cost for a liter of gas was 1.39, which works out to 5.26 per US gallon. I have seen the price per liter as low as 0.887, which works out to 3.36 per US gallon.

The effect is polarizing here in Canada. Apparently they have found oil off the coast of NewFoundland, which has had some effect on lowering prices globally, that is the good I guess for Canadian oil producers. The polar opposite of this is the oil producers in western Canada. They need prices to be high in order to be able to produce oil from the "tar sands", the process of extracting the oil from the sand is a costly one.

$1.76 in Wichita, KS today - sure makes driving the 69 with its BBC more appealing.

Used my Dillon's fuel points and got it for $.99 a gallon yesterday here in Derby. Does any other supermarket chain offer this kind of a deal?

Re: Gasoline

I just filled up my tank, and have no idea what the cost per gallon was. Doesn't really matter since the car needs gas to go no matter what
