Saw this along side the road on my way home last night. 1200.00. No motor. cab is fairly solid, rust is not too bad. Might be a good candidate for a Cummins 4x4 project. Sure could put some big tires underneath those front fenders. Hmmm...

It looks to be well worth the asking price if all you did was throw a used gas engine in it and drive it. It looks like someone butchered tje dash around the glove box for some reason and I'd check to see if it had floorboards in it with those galvanized pieces on the firewall.

looks like it has a deluxe heater in it !!!!!!!!! very nice to have in the cold - when working correctly them thar heaters will cook hot dogs !!!

Well, I'm still deliberating. This will be a truck project for my kid and he really wants a 58 stepside 4x4 with a cummins. But the front clip on this truck is in such nice shape, I'd hate to change it out. I did find a nice 58 front clip for 400.00 that we could use. Having that big viking frame underneath would be nice to hang that Cummins on.

Viking frame would carry the weight of the Cummins and heavier trans better too. Guys in the 4x4 section could offer some advice on what to use for donor, I don't know when GM quit using solid front axles. I have posted this before, my friend used a shortened 90's 1 ton dually frame and running gear with alcoa wheel conversion under his big bolt metal. 454 with autotrans/transfer case.

That's one hungus looking rig Orrie. Yep, I agree that heavy frame will work well with the Cummins.

Do you know if I could replace the large Viking fenders with standard 55 pickup fenders? May take a different radiator support. The Viking wide fenders may look odd if we decide to put a stepside bed on it like the kid wants. If it were mine, I'd be building a custom flatbed for it with duallys something like your pic.

BTW, I just finished putting an 80's style e-brake set up in my 58 like you did on yours. Worked very slick.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
