I just picked up a 72, C-10 with air ride.
But the right side bag was not working.
Jacked it up and found this!!


Anyone have a spring mounting plate??

I think you will be looking for more than a mounting plate.
Look at that trailing arm...?

A spring mount is the least of your problems. The frame U channel has collapsed at the mount from the rust and there is another place where the frame is distorted and torn. It can all be fixed, but it is a matter of how much you spend. You WILL spend quite a bit because what you have now is not safe. That frame looks like it's toast and I can not see how those trailing arms are still in one piece. Shock mounts aren't correct for a coil rear, either. This looks like someone hacked a 67-68 suspension under a leaf spring truck. I would look for a different frame as the VIN goes with the Cab, not the frame.

No Limit has a back-half kit (raised rail) if you were planning on dropping the truck which essentially replaces the frame from the trailing arm crossmember back but cost is about $1100.00 and it will take a lot of skill to get it right. An alternative is to shop for a new frame from the local junkyards. Here in AZ they are available for about $750-1000 but you have to pick it up.

If it were me I think this would be a parts truck or would require a parts truck. Trucks of this era were slightly overbuilt, but they had slide rules. There's not an abundance of extra structural steel back there, and most of what you have appears corroded.

Just because something doesn't have a hole in it doesn't mean it's not weakened.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I think you've got some serious safety concerns there. Others might have faced rust like that (I'm from the Midwest and that's a lot to me) and be less pessimistic or have tips on how to proceed.

It all comes down to how much time, money and mechanical ability you have. If the rear looks like that i bet the front end isnt much better at all. It might be better to get a new frame or make your new truck a parts truck. Is the body, interior and motor good? If they are nice i would swap the frame if they need work too i would use it for parts.

YES, anything can be fixed if you throw enough time and MONEY at it.
I think it would be wiser to take the good parts off and put them on something solid. Since yo are from MO. I am sure you can find something much, much better at a reasonable price.

Looks like a parts truck. I hope the body is more solid than the frame or you got the truck for $400 as then you can take the good parts & scrap the rest. Deff need to see a full photo but that entire backhalf is gone & not safe or road worthy.

The front half of frames seem to hold up pretty good. The rear gets it all thrown back at it and air flow, oil leaks, and flung grease do wonders for a frame's complexion. Sorry about your luck, this one's roached. Is it a shortbed or longbed, can't quite tell. I can't believe someone put bags on a frame like that. Just go on with it, I guess

I think your easiest and cheapest way to fix this is a different frame...

It is a 72 blue long bed withwood floor

Air bags front and rear.

The cab was fixed 10 yrs ago so it's starting to get some bad spots, but pretty solid.

383 stroker and the stock saginaw 3 speed.

May be parting it out, THE MOTOR IS MINE!!

WOW. Air ags on a junk frame. Also...saginaw 3 speed was never intended to stand up behind a 383...what were they thinking???

U need a new frame under that bad boy. Too bad you are soo far from AZ. About $300 here will buy you a straight rust free frame. Heck a guy I know has a roller complete with a 6 cyl. motor for $350.

holy crap... that's sketchy, new frame all the way. If that's the back half of the frame, who knows what else is compromised... and the air ride is only going to make it worse. if the body is clean... then you need a frame donor for sure.

It has a brand new re-pop tailgate still in primer, 5/4" decking wood bed

Yes it can be fixed...hell anything can be fixed! If your in $400 then your at least $19,600 better off than a lot of guys on here. Take your time find good people locally to help you out and enjoy that ole thing.....

I didn't pay $400.....I paid less.

It will be a nice cruiser, got a frame guy (does back halves and stock cars)
He will fix me up. And it will be faster with a lighter wallet.

Post pictures along the way , when repairing , we love that stuff . Your truck looks great ,,,,,,from above,,,,, even putting on a lift would scare me , but if the front half of the frame is solid """which I doubt'''''' you could weld in the back half from a doner ,,,, new frame would be better ,,, there are tons of them around but lots of rust in your area

Yep, I'd get a different frame. If you lived around here (or come down on vacation) I have a perfectly good LWB frame I'd let you have for free.

I'd have a hard time believing the front doesn't look just as bad?

Check inside all of the areas where all the cross members connect to the fame, they're notorious for rotting out there too... and if the back half is that bad...
