Fleetside step inserts
Hi guys, do you think the cast aluminum step inserts add or take away from the looks of the fleetside. Are they desireable? How rare are they and does anyone have pictures? Thanks Mike.

I really like them, Yet I can't make myself cut my bed to put them in.

Re: Fleetside step inserts
I have a tendency to side with you Sam. I too think they are cool and serve a purpose. It almost killed me to drill a hole in the top of my dash for a clock and a very large hole in the front so that I could install an ac center vent. I don't know what I will do. I paid a lot for a set of NOS side steps still in the GM boxes. I will probably stare at them for a couple of months and then get rid of them to somebody who has a bigger set of ----- than me!

Anymore opinions on whether or not these are desireable? Do you like them or not?

Re: Fleetside step inserts
Have them on my truck and matching trailer. Nice GM accessory. Supplied to GM by a company called EZ Step. Sold aftermarket as well. There are other versions of the concept. Like any accessory of this series nice to see something out of the ordinary. Just wait someone always pipes in on how much they hate them. Therefore exostentially they hate me to then!

Re: Fleetside step inserts
What I'm wondering about these is if the bed sides are enough support. If the sides flex under load, then absolutely a big no for me. As for their appearance, they arent bad for those that like accessories, but I personally prefer less to more.

Re: Fleetside step inserts
I have them on my tk as they were there when i bought it. being a k10 you can't reach into the bed from the side, so they help i guess. still high to step into and i am 6-2. pretty sturdy when bolted in but if i were to use them i would add a rear brace to the frame as jonz said. mine had no braces and was a search & rescue tk and were probably used a bunch. didn't seem to damage the bed sides in fact that area was the only place the tk wasn't dented lol!
