Dash Pads

Has anybody used USA1 Industries or Ecklers Classic Chevy Trucks dashpads? Looking to buy a new dash and need opinions, should I go with Urethane or Vinyl Style? Thanks!

Re: Dash Pads

I bought the urethane one from classic industries. I think it looks really nice. Took a bit of trimming on the ends, but was a pretty easy install.

Re: Dash Pads

I'd personally go vinyl (which I did). Check out DashesDirect.com too.

Re: Dash Pads

With what dashes cost, I'm considering just doing a custom aluminum dash.

Re: Dash Pads

There is a guy on here that covers them and they look pretty good. Not sure about cost though.

Re: Dash Pads

Mine was blue and all cracked, l used a nice 4 way stretch vinyl, some good contact cement and a heat gun. Turned out nice. I also did my door panels to match. I'm into it for about $50.

Re: Dash Pads

It was pretty easy, just clean well with wax and grease remover, I think the most important part is using good glue, and only gluing around the edges, so the vinyl "floats" over the cracks. It looks like new, and has held up fine for over a year. I just did the door panels a couple of weeks ago, and they were a little tougher to do than the dash, but turned out nice. I'll see if I can get the name or brand of the vinyl when I get home. It streaches great, and is nice and soft. The dash took about an hour, the door panels took about 2 1/2 hours, that included sewing up new map pockets. When I started my dash and door panels were garbage.

Re: Dash Pads

Here is a pic of how the door panels turned out. Now I need to replace the trim around the center panel.

Re: Dash Pads

Had my local auto upholster cover mine in vinyl. MUCH better than the aftermarket stuff I've tried. Did headliner and dash for 175.

Try Stitch Rod & Trim on Facebook.
He quoted me 350.00 plus shipping a couple years ago. I think it's a good price considering his work is awesome.

Can you still feel the cracks when you run your hand over the dash?

I'll have to try that. It sure looks nice. If I have a shop do it I'll consider having them redo my seat too.

If you push down you can, you can't see them though. A guy could fill them with body filler, then cover.
