disc brakes

my 1957 truck has a front clip from a 1968 c10. 6 lugs. it has the original drums. i got a new MC and prop valve and new lines are in. new drums in the rear. im ready to upgrade the front to disc brakes.

should i buy a "kit" off the internet with everything i need for around $550.00,
or is there a more cost effective way to get this done. no junkyard parts, i want to install new parts.

Re: disc brakes

personally, for the older trucks (pre-67), I like the kits. For 67-70, I like to use the 71/72 front and then just use stock parts.

What is the 71/2 sub? 71 suburban? 71 subframe?

for my 67 I got the kit from CPP. Everything to do the switch was included and fit perfect.

Re: disc brakes

^^ thank you that is very useful . So if I wanted to save some $$, I can try to find stock spindles from a 1972 c10 at the salvage yard and then use stock '72 parts to install the new brakes including '72 ball joints and tie rod ends (which I will replace either way)
