1959 stock front suspension
A friend took out the front stock suspension from his 1959 3100, is this the same for 1955-59 or?

Re: 1959 stock front suspension
It's the same for 55-59 as long as the 55 is a second series (Task Force).

Re: 1959 stock front suspension
Thanks, what I expected.
Tell me, what are those tall "tower" things, one on each end?

Re: 1959 stock front suspension
I haven't been under any but these make almost no sense. They are sheetmetal construction, have a riveted tag that I haven't read yet. This front came out of a 1959 1/2 ton GMC long bed

Re: 1959 stock front suspension
Maybe some kind of dampening device or overload spring?? Place to hide the booze from the boss or old lady?? Who knows, I have never seen one either.

Re: 1959 stock front suspension
They are unique to GMC, only seen them on 1 other frame.

Re: 1959 stock front suspension
I think I'd clean 'em up and run 'em. Talk about a conversation starter.

Re: 1959 stock front suspension
new one on me
looks like dynamic dampers used in tall building, a big weight with a spring on each end it's not attached to anything, just hanging on the steering knuckle

Re: 1959 stock front suspension
Better shocks would have worked but I guess they didn't have any then.
