tranny question
I currently have a 350 trans and I want to put an overdrive tranny in. What will bolt right in with no issues and which one do you guys recommend?

Re: tranny question
I put a 700R4 in mine. It bolted right up and I did not have to shorten the driveshaft. With some TH350's you will have to shorten it. The only fabrication I had to do was make a new crossmember but you can buy one for not very much.

Re: tranny question
A TH700R4/4L60 transmission is the closest to a direct replacement for the TH350 transmission. Differences are driveshaft length, crossmember/mount location, torque converter, dipstick, TV cable and linkage at carb and torque converter lockup control. I would suggest using a TCI #376600 kit for the converter lockup. The transmission needs to be 82-92 that uses a TV cable, 93 and later have to use a computer to operate.

Re: tranny question
There's a long and short tailshaft 350. One uses the same length driveshaft as the 700R4.
Another difference to watch for is electric or mechanical speedometer. You want mechanical most likely depending on the year of your truck, but an electric can be converted with the proper parts.
