Alternator Amperage
hello all, can anyone tell me the baseline amperage for an alternator on a '84 C10 4.1L. i'm looking to have it replaced but do not want to go lower than what i have right now. thanks for the help!

It should be stamped on the Alternator housing.

According to the 84 factory service manual, it looks like a 37 amp 10SI alternator (#1100203) would have been stock equipment on your truck.
A 66 amp 12SI alternator (#1100209) is listed as option K81 ... and I think those may have been standard equipment on trucks with A/C. The 10SI and 12SI alternators look quite similar but you can usually tell them apart by the design of the cooling fan. I work at a transit compony we USE huge big amp alt x2 and replace them all the time save your money my old 83 still has the origanal sure its just stock with 4.1 no A/c
