The ongoing education of an adult male!

Re: 1972 lwb Ac cab truck parting it out
So after reading some stuff on the site tonight I just got another education and lesson! I learned that the truck I am parting out had some pretty rare big block engine mounts that are worth a couple of hundred bucks together. This education came 3 days after I sold the entire set up to a guy off of Craigslist for 45 bucks!

Oh well I am learning as I go. Now I know what to look for on the next truck.

Re: The ongoing education of an adult male!

I've done the same thing when I first started parting out these trucks. I was giving stuff away basically. It's ok though. It's not really fun working on these trucks when you can't catch a deal every now and then. I have had my fair share of deals, so I just figured I was paying it forward.

Re: The ongoing education of an adult male!

The young guy and his wife that came to buy them were clearly just getting started on a very low budget build with a 454 in his project truck and he found out after installing his big block from a tree that his headers wouldn't work. So he heard that there were some flat mounts that should help with his header fitment problems. I said yeah these are the flat ones and he was happy to hear. Neither one of us knew they were anything special.

I really am glad for him given his challenges with having to pull his engine again and the fact that he could barely afford the price we settled on. They definitely went to the right person for the correct price!

Cool, makes it a painless mistake when the guy really needed a break.

It's only money, a happy face and knowing you helped him forward is cool.

Re: The ongoing education of an adult male!

I have givin people some really good deals on parts through the years( GM and Mapar) I feel it's good karma to help a person out who really needs the part. Yes some people are just looking to make money off of you, but I have always been pretty good at reading those people. Also, the guy you sold the stands to might have a part down the road that you need and give you a deal on it. This has happend to me more then a couple times.
