Re: Mixing An 03 With A 68

I'm interested in seeing this come together. I'm planing on doin the same thing to my 69 shortstep. There is one site I found that has a lot of wiring info, LT1swap.com
This guy breaks down the whole harness from whats hot and whats not. Some of the info is a bit overwhelming though.
Good luck, and hope all goes well.

Re: Mixing An 03 With A 68

There's tons of info on the LSx Swaps section of this board:

67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/forumdisplay.php?f=206

All the FAQs are covered. Once you're up to speed on the basics, if you have any super-specific questions, ask over there and you'll probably get a knowledgeable answer. What you're doing is a super-common swap, so shouldn't be too many surprises as long as you do your research.

Looks like it will be cool when done. Have fun!

Hey man that should turn into a badass truck with that ls swap. You have dirty dingo motorsports right there off the 60 in mesa.they make brackets and motormounts and ecm mounts and all kinds of stuff they even make custom pieces for you,.This board should give you a general idea of what you want the rest is up to you.i used to live in az and always visit, not enough old schools being worked on! Good luck man. and post alot of pics.Part that yukon out and the swap will pay for it self by way of donor vehicle .seats door panels dashboard headliner other things like doors and body parts will get you paid quick.theres always peopple looking for body parts ,alot of truck be rolling around with mismatched body parts as work trucks.

Re: Mixing An 03 With A 68

I Guess I Need To Start From The Bottom And Move Up.... I Have Seen A Couple Of Different Motor Mount Set Ups. One Was Basically A Flat Plate With Holes That Accept The Original Motor Mounts, And The Other Needed The Frame Mounts To Be Changed To A Later Model. Other Than "Kits" I Haven't Seen Much About Trans Mounting. Do The Original Trans Mounts Work?? Is The Engine Angle Alright Using The Factory Trans Mount, Or Is An Aftermarket Mount Needed??

I am planning on using an original transmission cross member. I'm just not sure which one yet. I have one for a TH350 and one for a TH400. Whether or not you can use any of the original frame holes depends on where your engine is located front to back, from what I read on here. I don't know about the angle yet.

If Taking A Well Worn 355/350 That Was Built In The Mid 80's Is Taking The Good Out, Then Yes.....
