67-68 Body Parts Interchangeability
What is interchangeable from a 67 to a 68 in terms of cab, doors, hood, fenders and so on? I understand the rear window was smaller on the 67 so that's one thing and perhaps the fenders didn't have the marker lights on the 67 as well. Anything else I should watch out for? Thanks, Dave.

Re: 67-68 Body Parts Interchangeability
Not all 67's were small window cabs. There was also big window (same as 68-72) cabs in 67. They were called Panoramic Rear Window on the SPID.
Most everything "interchanges" but may not be year correct. Such as, rearview mirror interchanges, but 67 to 68 are different styles. wing/vent windows have different latches but again, they do interchange. Only 67-68 have the pull type E-brake. I think only 67-68 had the buddy buckets. The buckets look the same (I think) but only one of the years folded forward. Only 67 longbox beds had the squared off front edge of the wheel opening (same as shortboxes) in 68 the longbeds went to the rounded front opening. But again the beds interchange. And you are correct, only 67 had no marker light. I am sure there are other things, but that is a quick reply.

Pretty much everything. Some 67's did have the large rear window. Aside from the marker lights there are a few minor diferences like door handels and wing window latches. I also heard the the tail gate is a one year only, but will work on any 67-72.

67 have a one year only wing window, and the big window cab was available on 67s and will appear on the spid with the option # 4A10AA panoramic cab eq, no side marker lights on the fenders or the bed on 67s

The wheel opening is different: The shortbox has a squared corner to it on the front bottom of the front of the wheel opening. The longbox has a more rounded corner on the front bottom of the front of the wheel opening. The 67 only longbox had a squared opening, just like the shortbox does. So, not only does a 67 longbox not have marker lights, but it has the squared bottom front of the wheel opening. Making a true 67 longbox that much harder to find.

The ignition switch hole is smaller on 67's than 68-72.

Re: 67-68 Body Parts Interchangeability
So will 68 vent windows fit in my 67 if I change the whole assembly? My 67 vent windows are messed up and it doesn't look like anyone makes replacements.

Re: 67-68 Body Parts Interchangeability
Yes theyll fit no problem. The outside door handles mount different on a 67 door. The 68-72 ones will mount but it takes some fineggeling. Wiring harnes from 67-68 are different frim the 69-72. Yiull see the firewall hole is smaller than other years. 67 doors have a different latch relay also ive heard. Ive heard 67 door hinges are one year only but im not sure.

X2 on door handles. The 67 doors are a little different. You can search the site for similar threads. Also the 67 had a power steering system that bolted to the manual arms. The frame on a 67 doesnt have the indentation needed to mount the larger ps box.

Re: 67-68 Body Parts Interchangeability
Sorry to hijack your thread but what about the steering gear box? Will a 68 fit on a 67?

Re: 67-68 Body Parts Interchangeability
It's obvious the ps gear is not original (bent up fenderwell) and is not an option on the spid. someone (PO) installed it ( without washers). I not one to question it untill it stops working. I have heard the tailgates are 67 only? is that true?
