Is my truck rare?

So I have a '67 C-10 original V-8(which unfortunately is long gone) big back window, factory air conditioning, and a tilt column. I ran the VIN cause i figured the cab was probably newer due to the big back window buts its a 67. I checked the partial on the frame to see if the truck was maybe just a mod-podge of parts, but it matched. The VIN says its a 1967 with a V8 that was built in St. Louis. I have no reason to believe that someone went to all the trouble to put a big back window, tilt column or A/C due to the dire condition of the truck. If someone had done all this work you would think that the floor pans would have been in better shape because they are gone. Rocker panels are swiss cheese and the truck had crappy primer over all of it when i bought it. It has had several resprays but the paint under the VIN tag is like a maroon. All the re-sprays appear to be a crappy Maaco type deal.(Overspray in the vents, jams weren't painted and there was no prep under the layers of paint.. it went crappy primer, then terrible metallic blue still shiny, then a hugger orange like color still shiny then primer and metal. WHAT IS GOING ON i was thinking peeling off layers of paint lol. Please lend any info you guys have! Thanks!!

Re: Is my truck rare?

There was a big window option in 67, and the tilt column wasn't available yet. I wouldn't say real rare...

There were a total of 275488 C10's built in 1967. Most of them were large window trucks as this was the last production year for the small window cab and the production switch occurred sometime after January. Is it rare? No. Not with the number produced it isn't. The tilt wheel is likely to be a PO upgrade because there was no production of the tilt column in '67.

Your truck would be really rare if it were factory with an auto transmission in 67!

Really? Almost every '67 I see has a small window.

Me too! I've been into these trucks for over 40 yrs. I checked out alot of 67's & the only 67 big window I came across was a stepside I tried to buy that I assumed was a 68. I think they are somewhat rare.

Re: Is my truck rare?

I should rephrase i don't necessarily mean rare i should have said desirable that better describes what i was asking. And my neighbors 67 is a small back window and i have maybe seen like 2 other factory big back windows.( i always ask when i see a 67, there are hundreds of these trucks in my local area). Most of them say they did a cab swap, and i appreciate all the feedback btw! But does anyone really know how many '67's came with A/C? Oh and slightly off topic my girlfriends grandpa has a 69 with a small block, auto trans, p/s, p/b, and 4x4.

Re: Is my truck rare?

Changes in mid production happens. In 1955 there were two completely different body styles for the pickup. One looks like the 48-54 trucks and then there are the standard 55 trucks that everyone sees as normal.

I have had a 67,68,69 Chevy's and now my 70 GMC.

The 67 that I had was a small back window and can't remember about the 68 that I had though. Both the 67 & 68 were manual trans pickups.

Umm, its pretty rare if thats the way it left the factory! Any 67 4x4 isn't exactly common, especially a SWB. They made about 2000 if I recall correctly. To put in perspective, its about 150x rarer than a c10 lwb. Good luck trying to find another with AC and PS. Given the options it has, its rare enough that I would assume it is not original unless you have an authentic spid or build sheet.

Big back windows aren't rare but are definitely rarer than small windows in 67.

Re: Is my truck rare?

Probably not .. It has a 72 axle under the front and 72 engine/trans. Spid is missing...I don't think the bed has ever been off the frame.. Numbers match frame.. Still.. Makes for a desirable driver.

Re: Is my truck rare?

I'm with Fitz on the (panoramic rear window).I was kinda bumbed when I bought mine,I like the small rear window, but after researching the small rear window 67's are of the rarity. I don't understand the desireable statement. If you like these trucks then carry on.If not sell it!

Re: Is my truck rare?

Big back window C 10's are more desirable kinda like fleetside short beds are more desirable.

Re: Is my truck rare?

Curious about the long stepper I just bought. All org and even has dealer tag below the tailgate and etched into the bumper. Org I6 is long gone but now sports a small V8 backed by the 3 on the tree.

Didn't mean to hijack the post but the subject line fit.

Re: Is my truck rare?

By desirable i meant more people want this truck in particular then not. I will not sell my truck unless worst case scenario. If i had the most common truck i would feel the same way. And again does anyone know numbers on A/C '67s?

No need to explain! I think most on the forum know what you meant. Enjoy your truck!

Yeah, your truck is a bit rare. As a matter of fact what you've got is very desirable. 67 CST's are my favorite.

Re: Is my truck rare?

No, there is no known break down in production based on options. The best you're going to find is production broken down into series (C-10, 20, 30 etc), wheel base, and 2wd vs 4wd.

The vast majority of 67's I've seen have been small window trucks, including my own I see every day I would say the big back window is "more desirable" as it's a PIA to daily drive a 67 small window and have to break your neck to check your blind spot.

In fact, here is the best break down you will find (if you own a GMC you're SOL as all records were lost in a fire):
