Rebuilt Engine?
I may be in the wrong forum here, but my truck is an "inbetween" model. It's a 2000 K2500, but is still the GMT400.
I need a new 350 for the truck. The old one is knocking, and end of life. My installer gave me a couple of suggestions on engines: To go witha rebuilt over a used one, and to check Napa and the Chevrolet dealer. Napa wants about $2600 here. The Chevrolet dealer's price is $2200. I looked online, and Jegs has the engine for about $2000. I'm open to other suggestions, and ideas. Where would you get your engine? |

Re: Rebuilt Engine?
Buy one from GM, Can not beat a 3 year 100,000 warranty, And they pay labor to R&R if the engine fails.

Re: Rebuilt Engine?
Would the GM (Goodwrench?) engine need to be installed at the dealer for the warranty, or can I have it installed by my mechanic?
The Jegs engine (http://www.jegs.com/i/Chevrolet-Perf...rentProductId= looks like it carries the same warranty. Is this the case? I've never worked with Jegs. I don't know if they're the place to use or not, but the price seems nice. Thoughts? |

Re: Rebuilt Engine?
The Chevy dealer in Marion, KS sells GM Performance parts cheaper than anyone I have ever found, this would include factory replacement engines. I believe they are currently under the Hendrick dealer group.

Re: Rebuilt Engine?
Unless the warranty policy has changed, it does not have to be installed at a gm dealer. I installed several gm transmissions at an independent shop. We had an issue with one, and we had the option to send it to the dealer, or make repairs and be reimbursed by gm. We chose to send it to the dealer, and they took care of it.
If any of my vehicles need an engine or transmission or transfer case, I wouldn't think twice about getting it from gm. In most cases, I can get it cheaper from gm than I can through jasper. Fyi, the goodwrench marketing name was dropped about 4 years ago. |

Re: Rebuilt Engine?
I'm traveling the same road as you. I have a 99' crew, she has a little over 300,000kms. The motor is getting tired. When the time comes I plan on going with a GM crate engine.
