It could be a 2WD to 4WD conversion and the owner is shading it with a confusing add. Notice the door jam ID plate picture has been cropped to show no color. Just saying...

Re: another rare 4x4 2wd K20 on epay

I agree cropped vin plate pic is suspicious. However th K vin matches and obviously something is amiss. I'm thinking the glove box door is from another rig. Shouldn't it have wood grain decal? Or at least be painted brown like the steering column. Maybe it's simply a donor glovebox door.

Irregardless fun to speculate and test everyone's wealth of knowledge that the rest of the world deems useless

Re: another rare 4x4 2wd K20 on epay

That's a dealer just outside of Sioux Falls, SD. I know they do quite a bit of buying/selling of old cars along with late models. They should know better: the crop job on the data plate is just weird, as is showing a non-matching SPID plate. And quite a few pictures of a 2wd undercarriage.

If a board member is interested in the truck, I'll be at my parent's place about 4 miles from that dealer this weekend. I could take a look and give insight into what numbers to believe and the actual shape of the body/frame.

Re: another rare 4x4 2wd K20 on epay

I never saw any 2wd under carriage pictures, but the seller explains the glovebox door is different. If it's a conversion they did a good job with the rivets. Unless...
The picture was taken on the original crapped out cab before switching the Custom/20 body on. Yep, that's what I'm bettin' on. I;m wondering if the K/20 was a Cheyenne or if that stuff was added. The C/20's interior is supposed to be Parchment and it's changed to Saddle Cheyenne (door panels)

Another idication could be the T-case shifter ring, square instead round. Easier to cut a sqaure hole than a round hole in a solid high hump panel. Just an observation...

The guy must have seen this thread cause he fixed the ad.

Look at the note at the end of the ad, explains all the discrepancies.

Re: another rare 4x4 2wd K20 on epay

If we saw a picture of the VIN-plate taken today it would be the K/20 one (shown on old cab) moved onto the C/20 body. It won't be the same rosettes we see now.

I see people pay in the $10k neighborhood for nice C/20 on K/20 swaps. $25k? Ehhh... No

Despite the descrepancies its my dream truck, lose the bed rails, change out the mirror heads to factory and throw on factory steel wheels and caps and I'd be happy the rest of my life! Love the two tone ochre & white and lower moulding only look on a K-20 4x4

I just want the 425 HP 350 that's in it.

Also from his post
"The undercarriage pic's were just posted in error by our photographer in error from another (2WD) truck of ours, he had shot. I posted the correct pic's for this truck now and all is now correct. Sorry for all the confusion...all is correct born 4x4, correct vin#, all badging matches...never converted...correct underside pic's showing."

Nothing one of us wouldn't do. I do believe it's a C/20 body swap (read my other posts), which you could say is not a conversion, and the seller chose to deceive rather than be straight about it (in hopes of getting the $25k). It's not a conversion, it's a genuine '72 K/20 and probably a real Cheyenne. It jut has sheetmetal from another truck, with the same body, now. A big block or 4spd C/10 or 20 has the exact same cab as a K/20...just like a fender, tailgate, hood, bumpers...

Once again on Ebay, it's the seller not the truck that's the problem. Same result, though.

Everything checks out. The title states "C10/C20 4x4" and that it is rare...yep!

I'd never buy a Cheyenne Super from anyone who calls it a Super Cheyenne. Right off the bat, you know the seller doesn't know what's what. what's worse is when the only thing Cheyenne Super on the truck are the fender badges. didn't even do the houndstooth seat cover that so many do. It's a nice truck, but seller fails. Always a shame to see. Isn't it refreshing when you see a nice truck listed accompanied by a thorough, honest, and knowledgeable description?
