67 Cab on 73 2wd 1/2 ton Frame?
I've been prowling around for a while now and haven't really found what I was looking for. Here it goes, I've got a 67 lwb c 10, manual everything except for the tranny, which is the Powerglide, my dad got it just for the grille and doesn't need the rest since he's building a 1 ton. The plan is to build a ratty bomber drag truck, beat on the original parts until they break then rebuild/upgrade as I go kind of deal. I've got a rolling chassis from a 73 Cheyenne half ton swb. My thinking for this is I get power brakes, 5 lug, and leaf springs out back. Now as I said before I've been prowling around here and lots of different places through all of that I've not found much info on a 2wd/1/2 to 2wd/1/2 swap for 67-72 to 73-87 frame wise, found lots of different articles relating to this kind of swap onto a 73-87 4x4 frame, but no 2wd on 2wd action. I understand the flaw involved with the cab mounting differently, but is there any other reason for this, love to hear from yall Trip 7 out

Besides cab mounts, only other thing I would think of is wheel base. Its about 4 inches longer on the 73 up models compared to the 67-72.. What are you actually doing with it? If you have the 67 everything but front nose why go 73 and up? Id rather have the trailing arms then the leaf springs..

I wouldn't even try its a monster job for almost no upgrade really. You would have to shorten the bed to fit the frame make all of the mounts for the cab the bed and the core support.Honestly i would sell the 73 and put that money back in the 67.On the 67 i would swap in the front suspension crossmember and all,It bolts right in and is 5 lug and disc brakes stock.I would leave the rear the trail arms they ride and handle better then leafs and easier to lower later if you want.
