Know anything about this A/C?
This A/C unit came in my 67. The guy I bought the truck from said it was a factory air conditioner, but it is unlike anything else I have seen. In case the pictures are not clear, the unit is mounted in the glovebox and has its own vents so it is a self contained unit. Everything under the hood looks normal ( compressor, condenser, etc.). At this point I do not plan on using it, but keep it as a cool nastalgia thing and would like to know more about it.

Re: Know anything about this A/C?
Never seen one mounted in the glovebox but it looks like the underdash unit you could get from the dealership to add A/C. You could install it or you could pay the dealership to do it.

Re: Know anything about this A/C?
Thanks JJR. Would there be any value to restoring it?

I'd be surprised if a dealer would cram it in a glove box, but I've been surprised before. Anyone can get that plug to push into where the lock would have been, and I notice it's not painted and the unit does not fit very well with gaps and such. |

[QUOTE=mechanicalman;7008360]BTW, you say everything looks factory under the hood. Does it have an extra evaporator core under there attached to the firewall?[/QUOTE
Nope. Not that I can see.
