My old '69 is for sale again!

Gosh, I still miss this truck BAD! When I saw it yesterday on Craigslist, I got super excited...then remembered I have to to sell my '79 before I can even think about looking for another truck. Darn you, Craigslist! I might head over there to look at it for old time's sake...he hasn't done anything to it since I fixed it up, so it should be a neat trip down memory lane for me. If anyone is interested in it, feel free to shoot me any questions...I can guarantee you I know more about it that the current owner does.

Re: My old '69 is for sale again!

Thanks. that's exactly how I had it when I sold it. the motor had only about 1000 miles when I sold it, it was the GMPP 260hp 350. Edelbtock performer intake and 650 cfm carb, all with the same miles as the motor. The exhaust was done at the same time. As you can tell in the pics, the cab mounts are shot...I ran out of money to do them.

I don't think it's worth 5800...when all the work I had done was fresh 4 years ago, I sold it for 5000...knowing that it needs new tires, I'd say it's probably worth offering 4500.

Re: My old '69 is for sale again!

I have no interest in buying it ,just wondered what you as the former owner thought it was worth .I have not seen one of my old ones for sale yet but I know the 55 Bel Air I sold a while back was worth a lot more than I sold it for but I wanted it gone .Plus it went to a good home where it is loved and driven often ,I didnt have time for it .

As a native and former resident of the harpers ferry area it's cool to see this ad. You don't see near as many of these trucks their as I do here in the desert. Very nice looking truck!

Re: My old '69 is for sale again!

Alright, gang...short update. I'm going to check it out tomorrow! Had a great talk on the phone with the guy I sold it to, and sure enough it's my old truck.

Re: My old '69 is for sale again!

It's usually nice to see your sold old vehicle after time has passed. Not so true when you see the buyer changed things in an unfavorable (to you) way or they want way more than you sold it for without touching a thing.

I sold my '63 Riviera to a guy down in West Friendship in the mid-90s. The house was on a farm sitting back off the road and in the woods. I could barely see it back there, then no more. I wondered if he sold it and never went to talk to him. Then, years later, I'm working in Point of Rocks and drove through Adamstown one day. There it was! It was parked next to a house looking the same as the day I sold it. i went by a few times, but never stopped. I wonder where it is now. When I sold it, someone in Texas almost bought it and that would have been it. So, it was pretty cool watching my old car's life a bit for a while

Re: My old '69 is for sale again!

I can remember when I was young my dad sold the 71 k/10 that got me hooked on these trucks. He had fully restored it a few years prior and needed some money to pay off some bills, the truck was the most valuable thing he could part with. He sold it to a family friend. Over the next few years I saw it often then the guy he sold it to sold it again. Havnt seen it in 15 years probably but I've heard a few time from the family friend that it's still around Winchester somewhere. What I would do too buy that truck back.

Re: My old '69 is for sale again!

My dad sold a red 1968 Firebird in 1984 for a down payment to buy the house they still live in now. It had raised rear shackles and the rear tires stuck out of the wheel wells a little (a look my dad liked, but I never grew fond of). Anyway, it sold locally and my dad hadn't seen it for almost 20 years, then bam, he's driving 15 minutes from our house and see's it. He did stop and ask about it, it's changed hands a couple of times, but still had the same wheels on it when my dad sold it. Obviously, the price has gone up significantly, but my dad said it still looks pretty good and still has the same paint/interior/motor it had when he sold it.

Re: My old '69 is for sale again!

Well... Disappointment sets in. I stopped by on my lunch break yesterday...it's deteriorated a lot. The paint is all faded from sitting outside, the tires are all rotted out, and the door trim I (unwisely) put on is peeling off. The driver side rear fender is starting to rust out quite badly, and inexplicably the fender support rod on that side is bent into a "u" shape. Not sure how that happened. Suffice to say, it was kind if a sad visit...I did a lot of work on my old '69, and there it has sat devolving for 4 years.

Anyways, here's a pic of it's forlorn state...

Re: My old '69 is for sale again!

So for the price he wants and the work that needs to be done, is it worth getting it back?

Re: My old '69 is for sale again!

I guess that's why I only road by for a glance of my Riviera and never stopped. I had that car for 15 years and kept it tip-top. Drove the H out of it,too. It may not have left you feeling so great, but it's still cool that you got to see it again.

I'm going to feel sorta bad in the opposite way the next time I see my old K/20 Highlander. I sold it to a good friend and I'm sure I'll see it...when it gets out of the body shop after a frame-up!!
