purple ignition wire
I know this is a simple fix but I hit a mental block. The purple ignition wire on my truck is cut and jumped to another purple wire that goes out the firewall. Is this for the neutral safety switch? If so can anybody be so kind as to point me in the right direction to get this hooked up the correct way? I know my safety switch has one connector with a green wire and a light green wire. The blazer also starts in any gear

Re: purple ignition wire
One purple wire runs from the "SOL" terminal on the ignition switch down to the neutral safety switch. And from there another purple wire runs out to the "S" terminal on the starter solenoid.
On automatic transmissions, the neutral safety and reverse light switches are a combination unit that shares the same housing. The green wires are for the reverse lights. It sounds like you basically need to cut the purple wires back apart at the splice, crimp on a couple of terminals, and plug them into the neutral safety switch. The purple wires should connect to the two parallel blades ... the ones that look like this: II The wires were probably jumpered together for a reason so you might also have to deal with a mis-adjusted or defective neutral safety switch. |

Re: purple ignition wire
Thanks for the quick response Does it matter which purple wire goes in which of the 2 terminals?

Re: purple ignition wire
You're welcome!
No, it doesn't matter which purple wire goes to which of the 2 terminals. The safety switch simply makes a connection between those two terminals when the shifter is in park or neutral. |

Re: purple ignition wire
Ray is 100% correct, just swapped out a harness from a stick truck to an automatic. Had to splice in for the Nuetral safety switch

Re: purple ignition wire
I think there is also a purple wire under the hood that goes to the blower motor. someone will have t back me up on that but make sure it is not that wire.
