1962 C10 Custom Cab Question

Hello,
I have a few questions about the custom cab interior and the engine for a 1962 C10 pickup. I wanted to know if anyone knew where I can find original material for the 62 custom cab interior with the decorative insert, not for the 1961 or 1963 C10's as they are different. Here is a 1962 picture I found and it is the same material I would need, and also I believe this truck came with a 327. At least it has one in it now I think based on the air cleaner on it and the orange visible paint on the intake. It has been basically owned by the same family since 1962, and I saw on the 62 chevy truck brochure it was available for the bigger truck. Could that be custom ordered for the C10? Let me know. thanks

Re: 1962 C10 Custom Cab Question

As far as I knew, the 66 models were the only ones to come out with a factory 327. I could be wrong though..

Re: 1962 C10 Custom Cab Question

Mine was 283, 327 didn't come out til 1966 according to book. The engine would be green/grey?. Not orange. Would have genarator not alternator.

Re: 1962 C10 Custom Cab Question

The motor I think is grey and the intake is orange to much dirt on it to see it I need to clean it off first to see but the air cleaner looks like the one in the 62 brochure for the big trucks 327.

Could you special order a 327 for the C10 in 1962?

It does have a generator, and I think the motor is grey and the intake is orange. Too much dirt to tell yet for sure. The air cleaner looks like the 1962 medium duty truck 327 picture. Could this be special ordered for the C10?

Re: 1962 C10 Custom Cab Question

I don't know if a '62 could have been ordered from the factory with a 327, but it certainly could have been dealer installed for the customer.

My very original, unmolested 62 has a 283 in it with an original generator on it as well.

That seat is the same seat I have. I think I may have found some material for the seat through original auto possibly.

Re: 1962 C10 Custom Cab Question

Here is a picture of the engine compartment as left original. Look t the air cleaner, it looks like the C50/60 one or for a 57 chevy 327. Is this stock? It looks correct to me like a factory 327.

According to the 1962 Chevrolet truck Data Book the 283 was the only V8 available in 10 20 and 30 series, In fact it does not show the 327 until you get to the C60 series trucks. All you need to do to verify is clean the pad on the front of the engine in front of the passenger side cylinder head. There will be some stamped letters and numbers. If you can post those I can identify your engine for you. That air cleaner would not be correct either for a 10 series. Your engine should be grey also.

Re: 1962 C10 Custom Cab Question

Thanks for the info.
Is that the correct air cleaner that is in the picture for a 283? I believe the motor is grey and the intake may be orange.

Re: 1962 C10 Custom Cab Question

Yes, the round oil bath on the left is correct for 62 283. Your engine would have been a 2 barrel though.
