help, hidden fuel filler behind marker lamp
i know i have seen where people have taken the side marker light, hinged it, and put the fuel filler behind it when installing a rear mounted tank. my question is, is this a kit you can buy or is it a custom piece designed by the builder?would like to purchase one for a customers truck. i've seen the floor mount ones but this truck has a steel floor instead of the wood one. any help appreciated michael

Re: help, hidden fuel filler door
I put in a 69 camaro gas tank and the filler cap is behind the rear license plate. You have to install a flip down bracket and the Tank is ease to install. Search 69 Camero gas tank on the forum. I had spelled Camaro wrong so make sure you spell it camero. I took some abuse but the instructions and pictures were great.

Re: help, hidden fuel filler door
lol 69 I remember searching for that when I first joined. Changed directions and doing a tail light fill. As far as Op goes, I think all of us on here have made our own version of it. Not sure if anyone makes a kit as everybody's needs and tank and ideas are different. Good luck though!

Re: help, hidden fuel filler door
I did the same thing, bought all the stuff for my 69 camaro tank, then changed my mind because I realized I wanted a hidden hitch. Did the blazer tank. The flip down plate still came in handy with my hitch though. If you don't plan on towing, the 69 camaro tank is pretty cool. Or you can do a bed fill and put in a trap door. Both of these are simple, if you're into something really cool, and have some extra time/money, the tail light fill is sweet. I've never done one, but I've seen a couple.
Should elaborate on the trap door, find a tank that doesn't have a filler neck, that way it's below the level of the metal floor. Aluminum seem to have the lowest filler.

Subbed.
I was actually talking about this yesterday with my Dad and told him I'd really like to do the side marker mod at some point WAY down the road. It'll likely be something I'll have to source out as I don't think I have the skills to pull it off myself.
