Got NOS 68-72 C60 GM front fenders today
I can not believe I found a set of NOS front C60 (schoolbus) fenders and the extensions. The guy who had them had a body shop for 42 years and was closing it down. They had done body work on the county's school bus and trucks and when cleaning out the shop there they were in the back in the dark.
Planning to graft them into the bed over my super singles. I know someone on the board has done this before but I cannot find the thread. Anyone remember seeing this done?

That is absolutely amazing. No dealer in the world would ever have those, so the only possibility of existence would be at old body shops or Gov't storage yards.
The fact that you found them is insane! |

Cut the fender today and got it test fitted.
Ill have to cut about 2.5"s out of the fender it's a bit to wide.

Nice find. The project is coming along nicely. Now if only I could run into a set for my 67 C50 Skewlie. Looks like I might have to to some cutting out of the bad slots and welding in some new metal. I suppose after I finally get around to doing that, I'll find a good pair somewhere.

That's the way it usually works! Just like tools, look and look and just can't find it until you buy a new one.

Looking Good...
Yeah the ones I have are pretty rough but I got a master metal worker that gonna help me fabricate the pieces I need... Just what I envisioned... Are you gonna be able to use the extensions to make the forward portions? I'll bet it will work..

Re: Got NOS 68-72 C60 GM front fenders today
Yes it looks promising, i have been pulled to another maintenance project for a little while but plan on getting back to the fender next week. I am going to narrow the fender first then add the extra set of running boards and then tie in the extensions.

Re: Got NOS 68-72 C60 GM front fenders today
OK, some progress, the NOS fenders were a bit wide so I sectioned about 2" from the front and tapered it to 1.5" for the rear.
Good thing I narrowed the fenders because a buddy came over and asked if I could get the truck out of the shop with those fenders on? After measuring I would have been about an inch too wide!!!! Fitting the new fender into the fleetside was not as bad as I had thought it would be, but a challenge (and I am a computer guy not a body shop guy). I got some warpage down at the ends but hoping that a hammer and some filler will fix it. I cut the fleetside and butt welded the new fenders on. I still have a few gaps to fill in but should be done with this side today. It looks like the school bus fender extensions will work out fine to blend to the extra running boards. Ill have to add some metal to the inside to fill in but it should work out. Now I have to build running board supports for the 2nd set and start on the other side.
