looking for suspension rebuild kit, poly or rubber?
Looking for suggestion on where to purchase a complete front suspension rebuild kit for my 99 Tahoe 4x4. I really don't want to buy the parts from Autozone ! Rubber or Polyurethane? I'm considering on getting Polyurethane bushings & boots what do you think? If you have replaced yours with Poly parts how do you like it
Thanks in advance !

Re: looking for suspension rebuild kit, poly or rubber?
To me it comes down to what you personally like. Rubber is softer and more pliable than poly and will dampen or eliminate a lot of NVH. That's why its OE to this day.
Poly is far less pliable and transmits more road feel and NVH than rubber. Some guys say poly makes their ride handle better or have sharper turn in. Either way you must lube the poly to keep the squeaks away and it is more durable than rubber. I really don't like poly in my old age because of the NVH and I know Addco and sway bars and good shocks do more for handling than any poly. It's up to you and what you like. If you don't mind feeling the cracks in the road and such run poly and take advantage of longer life and all the colors you can get. If your like me and want a good handling truck without the NVH run rubber with good shocks and for more slot car like handling source anti sway bars. |

In my old age I forgot to mention the folks at Summit Racing are very helpful, will tell you all your options and if you need to return something it's normally not a problem.
I know it's mail order but I've been a customer for 23yrs for anything that you need out of the ordinary. 800 230 3030 |

+1 for rubber. poly has it's place, but in my opinion the suspension isn't one of them. engine and transmission mounts, sure, but not in the suspension. too harsh.

Re: looking for suspension rebuild kit, poly or rubber?
Poly if its a playtoy and you want handling above comfort. Rubber for everything else. I put poly cab support bushings on my old 79 and that alone made the ride much harsher. Never again on a daily driver.
