Ls2 GTO question

Ok...my head is hurting from all the research I've been doing here lately..lol. I just can't seem to find an answer to one question. I have an 81c10 and a newly acquired LS2/4L65E from an 05 GTO. I was unaware of the odd oil pan on this car until we pulled the engine out the other day. The oil filter is about in the #3 cylinder position under the car. I assume this will not jive with the truck's K member, is that right? I really hate to have to source another pan especially since I would like to keep everything as tucked up as possible.

No way a front sump GTO pan is going to fit in a truck. Just get another pan, CTS-V or H2 Hummer or something and be done with it. The GTO pan will sell, I know 240sx swaps need them, so you can offset the cost of a new one.

Just went through the oil pan research deal and came up with some good info. I need to start a thread about this but here is the quick and dirty.

Go to GMpartsdirect.com, put the following part numbers in the search and it will show pictures with dimensions and at the bottom it shows all the part numbers of the items to work with the pan, windage tray, pickup tube, etc... Also has application information for what they originally came on if you want to hit up the salvage yards.

19212593 "swap kit" 8" rear sump, Summit.com will show all dimensions on this one.
302-2 Holley replacement pan, Summit for these dimensions also.
302-1 Holley also, Holley.com for these dimensions.

You can also search these part numbers on ebay for some products also. GMpartsdirect has some good pricing but shipping and handling is kind of expensive.

Just to get a ball park idea, how much do the front sump pans normally go for ?

The 12581209 front sump pans on ebay are listed for almost $400. Some new, some used, may have more value with windage tray, pickup tube and everything together. Seems kind of high to me but who knows.

Maybe you can make some money on the swap.

F body pans are getting kind of hard to find and can also be pricey. If your truck isn't slammed on the ground, the GM muscle car pan should work and is the most reasonably priced. You get everything from pan, windage tray to dipstick for about $150. It may hang down below the crossmember a half inch or so depending on what mounts you use, but again, if you aren't slammed on the ground it should be fine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oil-Pan-Kit-...a9bd5a&vxp=mtr

On a side note, DO NOT forget to knock out the little plug in the block where the dipstick goes before you put the new oil pan on, or you will be pulling the pan again. The plug needs to be knocked out from the bottom.
