Re: tach wiring

I bought mine on eBay about 3 years ago from Roger Koop. He is now a board member as RogerKoop. You might want to PM him to see if he still sells them. Otherwise, Classic Industries sells them.
Their numbers:
67 w/o HEI- CT20645
67 HEI- CT39694
68-72 w/o HEI- CT20635
68-72 HEI- CT39695

Not sure what the difference is with the 67s, but I think the early years routed the wire through the grommet with the washer hoses or oil line and the later years used a dedicated hole near the fuse block with a grommet molded onto the harness.

when did the search option disappear?
Much of this site is useless without that.

Re: tach wiring

Yes, i found that adding "67-72 chevytrucks" to my searches on Google is actually more powerful than the site search function, it pulls up related threads.

Re: tach wiring

Yes, I have not been able to go to the location to search my listed threads for some reason as well. it says something like "search disabled". I have just recently noticed this. i like to go to that page to up date all of my threads because it is an easy way to find them.

With that said, the 67 is a 67 only tach harness. I can build one if I had a sample to follow. I think the key difference is the way it routes. It does not follow the harness under the dash and come out of the firewall to the drivers side of the junction block like the 68-72 tach harnesses do.

If there was enough interest in a 67 only tach harness, I would buy one to model from and make them like I make my 68-72's.

Hope this helps,

Take care,
Tom

Tom you can find your threads by typing " TBone1964 " without the quotes in
the rectangular box by your private messages and check the dot by 67 to 72 trucks, then click Google. VV

I type my user name in the box up top of the page and selct 67-72 and it pulls all the threads I have started and posted in. I have no trouble with the search on the site.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

You're right ... the wire routing is different between the 67 vs. 68-72 tach harnesses.

The 67 routing is sort of a carry-over from 63-66. The brown coil wire follows the line for the oil pressure gauge out through the firewall, sharing the same grommet.

Michael,

I don't no about specs. Two things we can do. I can spend the money to buy an aftermarket 67 only tach harness to model from (You could just buy it and be done, if you wanted to)

Or,

I can build you a tach harness and you tell me how long you want the brown wire to be going to the coil on your HEI. From what I gather, the brown wire goes through the firewall with the oil pressure line.

I can crimp and solder the correct HEI end on it for you. The rest of the harness is the same as a 68-72.

Basically the 67 is the same as the 68-72 with the exception of no firewall grommet and a shorter coil (brown) wire.

Send me a PM on this and I will let you know what I can do for you.

Let me know
Tom
