Hi all, Just curious, If you could pick any year 90's truck which one would you pick as your favorite. Thank you.

Hmmmm.....can I pic two from the 90's? Lol. I love the 88-98 body style and I love the 99-06 body style. I would like a 91-94 or a 99 standard cab shortbed. I really like the interiors of the 99-06 and I like the boxy 88-94 interiors.

I like the 97-00-01ish gmt400s (dual airbag dash) Heavy 3/4 and 1ton ECLB and CCLB 4x4s preferably with the l29 or the diesel.

I've always been partial to '92s because I bought one. Other than that, it's a cool year because the 6.5TD came out along with the GMT400 Crewcabs, blazers, Jimmys, Suburbans, and the brand new 3500HD. Was just a big year overall. Oh, and 6.5TDs had mechanical injection. There were improvements through the end and my liking for '92s precedes that. I really like '94s because they have the newer appearance, yet still have the nice interior. It was the last year before they put a mound of molded plastic in your face. It would be nice to have a Votec, though. Now that these are all older, I'd rather still have a TBI, but put Vortec heads on. You get the advantage of those heads while remaining simple and reliable. The '99-ups don't count since the GMT400 was also available. They were the new truck for the next miliennium introduced a year in advance

I like 95. Newer interior, TBI, no check engine light BS to worry about!!!! Going thru that with my 96....But I think 98-2000, only because CCSB...missed out on one with a 454 n 5-speed for $1800 IIRC, had tranny issues.....

TBI, updated interior, great grill.

Trying to find a long box, regular cab, K2500/3500, with a 454/speed combo right now. Our workhorse needs replaced and I've got an itching for a big block.

All the 94's I have seen looked a little different than the 95 up. Plus I liked the newer look of the interior/dash with the 95 up years.

'94 grilles are the same as '95 grilles. '94 got the updated grille and third brake light. '88-'93 had the early grille and '94-'98 got the late.

I had a feeling you'd say that. It seems most here prefer the newer dash, but I guess I'm just different. The '94 dash is more trim and it actually has padded vinyl like a good old vehicle rather than bulgy curvy plastic like everything since. Yet, it's modern with the heat controls and stereo w/equalizer. I love the graph-style indicators. And the glove box is a box with a lid, like pre-73s,not the lid itself. The one in my '95 Suburban is cracked from something heavy being in there. Then there are those way cool steering wheels, not an airbag with a rim. The '95 style is ok, but I like the '94 much much more. Then there are the door panels matching the seats

I think styling has more to do with color when it comes to interiors. For example the gray on the 88-94 does not ages as well as dark blue. I barf on the maroon and red interiors. Would love to have seen GM do a dark charcoal interior back then. The beige in the 95 and up I cannot stand. Again dark blue is the one I crave. Gray looks good on the 95-99.

While I like the slight performance increase of the vortec's the TBI trucks are much simpler and less prone to problems. With that said the 95 trucks with TBI and the more comfortable interior are probably my favorite. Of course a 2 door 2WD tahoe is hard to beat the looks of, and that centurion crew cab is killer, and the... How do you pick just one????

Where's the centurion? I don't think there's one posted in this thread.

I am partial to the 99-00 CCSB, with a big block of course, But I like 95+ as far as looks go. And I like the vortecs a whole lot better than TBI.

Just was informed in another thread it is a 2500 that has been converted. Either way the crew cab/shortbeds look fantastic lowered!
The Vortec's are definitely stronger it just seems everyone I have had or worked on (which is a lot) need intake gaskets, distributor or at least the cap, fuel pump, and spider injection or injectors on the 454's. The TBI's normally just need a TBI gasket, EGR, CTS &/or an ignition module - all cheap and simple to replace. This is just my personal experience. My family owned a used car dealership that specialized in GM trucks so I have had my hands on more than I can remember. I was bragging on my Tahoe Limited a few weeks ago and discovered this morning that it needs intake gaskets now and the PO had them done a few years ago. Not a major ordeal, just something else to do. Don't get me wrong I like them all, but sometimes simplicity is a good thing.

The intakes will need done over and over if the cheap plastic gaskets are used. I have put injectors in my 99, my 96 still has the originals. In my eyes, its a small price to pay for the more powerful engine.

I run a small shop and I see them everyday. rebuilt lots of TBs for TBI trucks, and put in lots of distributors when the pick up coils quit.

I don't have anything against TBI, they are great, but the vortec is my preference.

But lets get back to see more great looking trucks.
