Powerglide tabs ?

Could someone tell me what the four tabs or bosses are for on the powerglide trans ? I'm thinking they were used on the assembly line to hold the trans in place during installation.....maybe ?

My other question is can they be cut off or would this be something I might regret doing sometime down the road ? One of them (pictured) is where I need to mount a bracket for a kickdown cable. ( inline 6 motor ).

Thank you

Re: Powerglide tabs ?

Not sure on a stock application but when using the case for a drag car we cut them off.
