1970 3/4 or 1 ton?

I know this is going to sound odd, but I have a 1970 4wd truck sitting back home that my dad finally got around to putting back in my name, long story. Unfortunately, some thieves and vandals have stolen parts off of it, and broken most of the windows out of the cab.

I have a friend that wants the frame, axles, 4 speed manual transmission and transfer case. The problem is, I have no idea what it is worth. Its going to a great cause, so I am not concerned about making a ton of money. Any thing I make on it will go towards my 72 Super Cheyenne build.

It has the 4 speed like I mentioned, 8 lug axles, and as far as I know it was original parts. Any ideas what its worth? It was running when the engine went bad and got parked, drive train wise.

Thanks for any support.

Well, depends on condition of truck. Post your message in the 67-72 message board. You'll get more replies.

It's a 3/4 ton truck regardless. The K30 didn't exist until 1977.

Re: 1970 3/4 or 1 ton?

Not much really. The front will be a closed knuckle Dana 44, not worth much in less someone restoring a vintage truck. Rear is most likely an Eaton, again not worth much since the 14b came out in 73. 4-speed and guessing a 205, not that big a deal....

Re: 1970 3/4 or 1 ton?

I almost bought a '70 k/20 frame with drivetrain (no engine) last year for $700. It's worth that in parts. They are drum brake but first year open knuckle, so disc brake swap is simple as swapping knuckles-out. I turned my buddy on to it who needed to replace his '72 frame and I'm getting everything once I get up his way

If it's a GMC it could have a dana 60 in the rear with 4.10 gears and a power lock traction aid.

1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

Re: 1970 3/4 or 1 ton?

Most the the Chevy's that have a big block have a 60 rear too. Not sure why, maybe cause they were 3.54s? Lowest gear (number wise) for an Eaton is 3.92s or something.

nevermind.....thinking of another post....GMC would have the 60 rear, and possibly the P/L....
