vortec heads
i have a completely done 355 i did for my dad and he gave me the truck cuz the cab and fenders are rotted thru. its a 1987 so its fuel injected, the motor is out of a 1994, runs amazing but its going in my 1979 and i want to change it to carb. my question is what aluminum vortec intake do i run because anything i find is for a 1996 and up.
im doing a whole body swap. putting the 1979 c10 body on the 1987 k20 frame. it has the new 355, 4 speed manual, dana 44s. if im thinking right the only things i need is a new tunnel, intake, and new cab mounts. if i need anything else feel free to tell me. thanks |

Re: vortec heads
If the motor is a '94. Then it doesn't have vortec heads. It would have swirl port heads. Vortec's didn't start until '96.
For an intake, any old school sbc intake will work. But the inner bolt holes need to be modified a little.

Re: vortec heads
If it is a TBI headed motor then a 2104 Edelbrock intake will work for it. If it is a Vortec headed motor then a 2716 Edelbrock will work. If you hit the Edelbrock website it will have proper photos so you can see the difference.
