lowering questions

So I'm planning on dropping my 64 c10 lwb. I've got some jeep springs for the rear and plan on cutting the front to match, no more than 1.5 coils. I've read all about using this method and know about the pros and cons. My question is this will I need/have to put new socks on, if so what do you recommend. I'm not wanting to put a whole lot into this right now as this is a temp as I save up for bags. Second is their anything else I will need to do when I drop it beside get it alignment? Meaning shock relocation or suspension stuff. Thanks in advance.

Re: lowering questions

At more than 2" of drop, shocks need to be changed.

The best option is keeping the length as long as possible (use the stock length shocks) & use a relocated upper shock mount (POL or CPP). The 2nd option is aftermarket shorter 'drop' shocks & then there's always just using some off the shelf shorter shocks that have the same mounting set-up but short enough to work.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: lowering questions

I dropped my 63 just like your doin. TJ coils in the back and cut one coil off the front. 4 inch rear and 2 inchs frt. drop.I used 67 c10 shocks up front but had to change out the bushings from the old shocks cause they were different dia. I found a shorter shock for the rear, but cant remember the part no. right now. Somebody here said we could use the shocks off the frt on the rear? that would be very cool. `I just barely got alighnment with one coil. know way it would come in if I had taken another half. the next time I will buy drop spindles. cutten the springs did work but it brought the lower control arm way up and it seems pretty stiff.
