Feb Blues when looking at CL and Ebay

Man the prices people are trying to get for parts that I gave away to help other members out in the past.
I must be reaching that point in the aging process where everything starts to seem so expensive and unachievable.
What ever happened to the hobby part of it?

deep pockets happened, yes i spend alot on this hobby. that being said i dont eat often to support my parts. i too give parts when i can after racing to get it only to find it doesnt work or even fit or isnt just the right look. i still enjoy it and not getting much sleep to work on the trucks right after or before work, i smile cuz im doing the work and not watching tv seeing shows where other people are doing the builds. i guess what im saying is im "living" and its great!!! now wheres that buy it now button...

Re: Feb Blues when looking at CL and Ebay

there is usually a big discrepancy between ASKING price and SELLING price. In money markets, basing your worth based on offering prices has always been called speculation, haha.

Re: Feb Blues when looking at CL and Ebay

For guys like myself , that don't care about period correct ,or numbers matching ,i just find a way to make it run and move dependably .. The comments alone are worth that ... You will never find me paying huge prices for anything .... And I tend to take trash and turn it into drivable trucks ... the most i have ever paid for a 63 is 850.00 .. But then again i buy stuff that isn't too good and make it better ....

Re: Feb Blues when looking at CL and Ebay

Supply, demand and interest, many more people building these old trucks and not much of a supply of NOS because Pimpston is buying it all !! I still find excellent deals , but Ebay is expensive to sell anything, that's why asking prices are higher but you cant beat the worldwide attention . Sell a 500.00 item they get 50-75.00 plus now your suppose to pay income tax. After a 1000.00 its even higher . Its all relative . Correctly done stock and modified trucks bring a good penny also. But watch some of the others just fall flat. Stock "looking" always seems to bring the best price.

Like 60-66 said
Supply demand and increased interest.
We've both had our trucks for 15+ years and interest for even longer.
I'd proudly call us "ahead of the curve"
While they were burning big bucks on 55-59's and 67-72's we were hoarding 60-66 stuff.
I too give parts to those who need them , it's just in our nature and attitude about
the hobby we love.
There will always be money mongers out there!
You and I are just not one of them
I'd rather feel good than rich
Trent

Re: Feb Blues when looking at CL and Ebay

I've been so stuck in the house ,(where it's warm)
no time to play outside and turn blue lol -42 here with the WC this morn, more this week.
I've tried selling stuff, everybody sure wants it cheap,or free.
I don't mind a person bargaining in person, with cash.but i'm not spending time on the phone, only to have them totally lowball me or no show and try again a few days later,in case I changed my mind on the price lol
