Door Bumpers

I see this door bumper listed for a '63. My truck does not have these bumpers. Should it have these bumpers, where do they go and how many per door? Can someone post a photo showing location?

Thanks for the help,
Hugh

Re: Door Bumpers

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess the previous owner filled the holes. I should be able to get them close enough from your photo.

Re: Door Bumpers

mine had the holes, but they were too small for the reproductions. It's no big deal, just drill some new ones and push them in.

Re: Door Bumpers

The repros come in two sizes: one for big holes and one for small. My truck (a '64) uses the ones for the smaller holes.

yup... at least from LMC the ones for 60-63 are the small ones and the ones for 64-66 are the big ones. Too bad my 65 had the small holes. But it was nothing a Step ream couldn't fix.

Re: Door Bumpers

x2 on LMC having the right ones, I think this is the ONLY thing they got right.

Re: Door Bumpers

I thought I had missing door bumpers but sounds like maybe not. I am in the middle of the Honda weatherstrip install and will wait until I finish and see how the doors close. My truck was made in Baltimore. I wonder if assembly plant determined if the truck had door bumpers?

Thanks for all the replies,
Hugh

Re: Door Bumpers

The "V" shaped guide in the door jamb below the latch takes care of the no bumper situation

Pardon my hijack, but what's the reason for using Honda weather strip? For easier closing? Do they make door closing easier, from some of those who have used them, or is this new territory? Which Honda w-strips are the ones to use? Thanks for answers & info. Please report back how well they work. My pass door is fine, but my driver's door is a 'slammer', on a '66 sbss, & I highly dislike it!
Thanks,
Sam

Re: Door Bumpers

I took a look at a few of my trucks, looks like all the 63's did not have them, I have 3 chevs, and a gmc...
I have 1 60 with them, and 1 61 with them, and 2 61's without....(all chevys), and 1 61 gmc with...
I have a 66 gmc with none in the lower spot, and a 66 chev with them in the lower spot...

Re: Door Bumpers

What's the easiest way to install the bumpers? I was thinking a mild soap and water solution or rubbing alcohol like when installing handlebar grips.

Re: Door Bumpers

Spray glass cleaner around the hole and on the rubber and twist it in

Re: Door Bumpers

Back in the day when putting tight handlebar grips on my old Indians after a rebuild, I read somewhere to use hairspray, I tried it and it worked great. It was the old aerosol type. I am sure this would work with this application as well.
