1969 c10 RV build
hey guys/girls I'm Jonny. 3 years ago i inherited a 69 RV from my Dad. I have fond memories of camping as a child in it. I would like to not restore it but do a nice build. I haven't been able to find anything on these chevy RV. If anyone knows anything about these or knows where I can find information about them. I would greatly appreciate It. Thanks.
Also I don't know if I posted in the right place. If not please move to correct spot. |

Hi Jonny, welcome to the board. I think you would get a better response on your thread in the regular pickup board. I will move it there.... I like your RV for sure. LockDoc

Re: 1969 c10 RV build
That's cool. I would love to have one. Just a couple of corrections though, it is a C30 chassis and it is a 1968.
Welcome to the board.

Re: 1969 c10 RV build
It's a 68 chassis based on the hood, grille and fenders, but it's quite possible the RV was built as a 69 depending on the month it was assembled. I'm not sure what the title would say in that case.

Re: 1969 c10 RV build
Lots of '67-72 RVs like this around. Just search this site for rv or camper. Enjoy the build!

Re: 1969 c10 RV build
Awesome score you got there. Does it have a walk through from the cab to the back of the camper with a giant hole in the roof. If so, it's exactly like a 68 I am in the middle of making a 1 ton dually short bed step side out of. Look in the builds section for "Meet Homer".
Is it a really long wheelbase? Mine was 175" long.

Re: 1969 c10 RV build
It might also be an "Open Road". They were put together in Redondo Beach.
Any pics of the walk through? Was the gas tank opening moved over to the passenger side?

Re: 1969 c10 RV build
It's a '68 but probably not sold and titled till '69. These are all C/30 cab & chassis from factory, then are converted to camper by various companies. Open Road had a deal with GM to sell directly from dealerships, where the others were either buy the truck/send out for conversion or RV companies buy/convert and sell through their dealers. You's is different from any I recall seeing. I've never seen (or don't recall) the cab unified with camper like that. I see the wheels have been updated and it was painted at least once (& mirrors changed). It doesn't look like your frame was stretched, but it has a large tail overhang.

Re: 1969 c10 RV build
It should say on the camper somewhere whom the manufacturer is.
I'm flying to California this week to pick up a 72 rv. The truck was built in Fremont and the rv part was built in Bakersfield by travette mfg. Look close on yours and do you have any interior pics? |

Re: 1969 c10 RV build
I'm in cailfornia and the RV is in Washington. Putting together a trip to pick it up. He left me a 65 chevy van (it was the first thing i ever drove) that I picked up 2 months ago. When I get the RV to cailfornia. I'll examen it closer. I have pic of the inside but it's full of crap can't really see Anything. I'll post the ones that I have though. the molded cab sets mine apart from everyother rv iv seen. Can't wait to get it here so I can learn some history on it. Thanks for all the other info too. Keep it coming please.
