DBW Gas Pedal Adapter bracket
I build a DBW pedal adapter bracket for the 67-72s
(here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=652799) And I was wondering if there would be much interest here. The bracket would be bolt in and use the 03-08 Truck/SUV pedal like in the picture. Let me know. R/

Re: DBW Gas Pedal Adapter bracket
I think my current 67-72 pedal bracket will work on the 73-87 with just redrilling the pedal mount holes. Who wants to try it?

I am finishing one up now. I used a flat plate, but would be happy to be the guinea pig. If you don't have any takers, send it my way.

Re: DBW Gas Pedal Adapter bracket
I bought 1 of the first brackets you made to try in my 88 crew. If 73-87 are like mine they will just need to be redrilled. I took my pedal out to get it done but haven't got to it yet.

Re: DBW Gas Pedal Adapter bracket
Hi Rob,
Pedal installed and it feels great, much better than the stock truck pedal. I know you told me before, but could you please tell me again what wires to switch so I can use the vett pedal now? I have a 2011 5.3 Thanks again! |

Re: DBW Gas Pedal Adapter bracket
Hi Rob,
Saw your bracket and also wondered if it would work on the squarebody styles. I am in process of swapping a 2003 Tahoe 5.3 into an 85 C10. From my basic fitting of the truck DBW pedal into the 85 cab, it seems that it would fit but the DBW sensor/mount would be VERY close to the steering column. But pedal itself pretty much where the original one was. However, I noticed that by moving the new pedal there the DBW sensor was right in line with the brake pedal arm. This would probably be no big deal under normal circumstances. (i.e. normal braking) But I worried if the brakes were to go out or as they were pumped to the floor for bleeding, that the arm could contact the DBW sensor and possibly break it. Has anyone trying the bracket noticed if the sensor will be in line with the brake arm or not? Just wondering. Thanks.

Re: DBW Gas Pedal Adapter bracket
For all of the guys looking for a pedal bracket to work with the 73-87 trucks, here's a thread that has some great info in it:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=692222 http://www.hotrodlane.cc/Streetstories/81%20swap.pdf Apparently a factory OEM gas pedal from a 94-02 CHEVY GMC 6.5L V8 DIESEL (PN 15984422) will bolt right in. You have to repin a few wires, but it's supposed to be pretty straight forward. The .pdf file has a complete discussion on the entire install, but here is a small snippet: "This is the installed Pedal Position Sensor AKA Drive by Wire pedal. I used one from a 1998 6.5 Diesel truck as it bolts right up and is a closer match than the later Silverado pedal. A couple of the wires do have to be moved as it is internally wired different. Basically, there are three different sensors in the pedal and the PCM compares all three of these to determine how much throttle opening the drivers is requiring. If these three sensors do not agree, a code will be set and the PCM takes a best guess at what the throttle opening should be. The gray wire was moved from location A to J, the Brown wire was moved from location E to A and the Yellow wire was moved from location J to E. I also had to add a slot in the connector plug so it would plug into the pedal." PLEASE NOTE I HAVEN'T TRIED THIS ON A TRUCK, I'M JUST PASSING THE INFORMATION. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ANY PARTS!!!! Good luck with your LS Swap!!!

I'm a little intimidated swapping wires around. Is there a guide on how to move wires around on the connector? How do I get the wise out of the connector without damaging them? And then how do I reinstall them? I'm pretty much done with my swap, and it drives great, but the pedal is way out of position. Hate to go screwing with my harness if everything is working, but the diesel pedal sounds like a good idea.

If you're looking for a used one car-part.com and eBay are good places to look ($45-90+). Also, Dorman makes a replacement sensor (#699-207) for around $80-90 so if you get a bad one cheap enough it still might be cheaper than buying a new one... Quote:

Re: DBW Gas Pedal Adapter bracket
I am curious if this bracket would also work on 2009 and up pedals? I have a 2014 going in a 64 c20. Could you share an up close picture please??
