Hoses for Trans. Lines?

Is anybody running hoses instead of metal lines for trans cooler? I was thinking about getting braided lines made up instead of using the formed metal ones, is this a bad idea?

Re: Hoses for Trans. Lines?

I am using an fittings and braided performiflex hose. Supposed to stand up to almost any oil or lubricant. I wouldnt use regular unsheathed rubber hose. And its an upgrade for me considering the previous owner didnt even have the cooler hooked up

Standing up to oil and other lubricants is not the issue. The pump in that trans can reach about 250 PSI. If your fittings and hose won't take that kind of pressure your trans will self destruct when the hose fails faster than you can say darn! Just between you, me and the dog (who really doesn't care), I wouldn't run anything but rigid cooler lines.

Re: Hoses for Trans. Lines?

Good hydraulic hose with JIC fittings can easily withstand 4000+ psi. But I wouldn't do it. Regular steel line is easy to find and work with and way less expensive.

Hydraulic hose does, but the OP and the guy I answered aren't using it! I agree with you, Steel only.
