Vent window handle righting

I've rebuilt my vent windows and bought new handles, but the new chrome handles are seemingly loose. The kit gave me 1 wavy tension washer. My guess is that the new handle is cast too big? Should I wrap a layer of tape of other gasket material on the post or use a second washer ?

Anybody have this yet?

Thanks
Jake

Yep, I have one that is loose like that too. The original drivers side handle fell apart and I replaced it with a repro handle. Now it flops around. More aftermarket junk. I never thought about using some tape to tighten it up. It may work. God luck.

I'm also thinking that another washer might press the sheve pin against the post ? It's the little things like this that make me crazy!

You might try plumber's Teflon tape. It goes on very thinly per revolution, so it along with an extra tension spring-or-two may just 'dial it in'.

I had that same issue. Its that the pin that holds the reproduction handle is set too far away from the groove. If you compare the original to the repro its quite clear. The drivers side was fine but the passenger side was floppy. The original had a casting number of R2 and the reproduction was just R. They sent another and it was the same thing.I think its just a inherit design flaw.

Re: Vent window handle righting

I Put Three Wavy Washers On And Used A Small C-clamp To Hold The Handle Tight. Then I Was Able To Push the Pin in The Grove And Walla It Is Tight Like New. thanks
