64 230 CID Rear Main Seal

IS the rear main on a 1964 230 cid a 2 piece ( typical seal) or the old style rope seal..Any tips for changing it mine leaks like a siv..THANKS IN ADVANCE

Should be a two piece neoprene seal. Jack up the engine, drop the pan and remove the rear main support. While you have it apart, clean out the pan and the oil filter screen. And don't touch the bearing surface or crank journal with bare hands, best to wear nitrile gloves. The salt in your fingerprints goes right to the crank surface and corrodes it.

The new seal should have a plastic tool to use to assist in the seal install and removal.
