71 dual rear wheelcouple of ??

I bought a 71 C-30 last week at the salvage sale where I buy my wrecks. They also sell sometimes donated cars/trucks there and the monies go the said charity of the giver. This truck was benefit of the Veterans of America it still has it original paint [except for the hood, has been changed] and it is really straight. It has small amounts in the rockers and left floor but I couldn't tell how much cause the factory floor mat is still good. Now this leads me to my questions:What rear gear would this thing have? I haven't tried to drive it yet I just let them haul it to me the 100 so miles from the sale, it did drive through the ride and drive portion of the sale, and did it well. It has a 400 4 spd. Next question is there was one rim off of it in the front floor board and it is a split rim type, what any can I get a regular type wheel to replace that with? I would assume anything way on up probably to 87? I just hate to assume cause I know what happens then. Some of the tires are bad[That is why one is in the cab] and the inside wheel on the right rear is blown out so I wanted to put back tires at least before doing anything other than lot driving. Even if I just make a plan to sell it it needs tires and a seat. I have a 02 I junking I probably will use it unless I find a blue truck seat while looking for wheels] Thanks in advance for your help. Jim

I don't know what standard would be but it looks like it could have a 4.10, 4.10 Power Loc, 4.10 No-Spin, 4.57, 4.57 No-Spin, or a 5.14 No-Spin.

If it has an optional rear gear it should be listed on the SPID

Just about any 1 ton wheel should fit it. Some of the ferds have a locating lug on them but you can just cut it off.

lug pattern should be 8 on 6.5, dodge and Chevy still run this pattern ford changed to metric around 99 I think, anyway anyone selling the wheels should know if not measure before you buy, some of the eaton hos had a 5.46?? (maybe way off, not a ratio guy) I think it was option

Re: 71 dual rear wheelcouple of ??

I have like 20 8 hole wheels for of course a single one tone or the 3/4 ton from all the late 3/4 tons I've junked out but I sold all the one ton wheels I had a couple of years ago to somebody needing a set to fix up an old truck. Just goes to show you should never get rid of anything. But of course if I did that I would have run out of room 20 years ago. Jim

Re: 71 dual rear wheelcouple of ??

terry it runs real good it just needs some tires and I'm looking for a seat. If I don't find a blue one for a 71-2 [I will put in a set from a 02 GMC SLE that I am junking out that are nice for their age I don't have much call for stuff back that far and paint the door panels and dash pad black if I go with the later seats that is]. It has a small block 400 with the 4 speed I have a van column that the shifter hump was boggered up so I ground it off and filled the holes so it looks like a factory floor shift tilt. It may end up in there. I also bought a tach air pressure dash on E-bay the other night so It may go as well. I have three others to build this one was really bought for ....well I just don't know.
